Breath of the Wildwas filled with hidden secrets for fans to enjoy. The same goes for the game’s prequel,Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
Known as one of the games to take the longest amount of time to complete on the Nintendo Switch console, the originalHyrule Warriorswas filled with fun secrets for the fans to uncover as they played through it.

Much like its predecessor, the most recentHyrule Warriorsgame got the same treatment and so there are lots of awesome secrets to dig up that complement its lore and gameplay. Here are 10 secrets that can be found inHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.SPOILERS AHEAD
10Mabe Village
This was a place near the Ranch Ruins inBreath of the Wild, however, it was hard to find any connections between the ruins and village inLink’s Awakening.
InHyrule Warriors:Age of Calamitythis is not the case. Fans will be pleased to know that this time around there are more links between the two besides the name of the village itself. Here, the village features more similarities to the original such as the coloring of various roofs and the Cucco statue on top of the village’s well, which definitely resembles Mabe Village’s Weather Vane.
9Cucco Glider
It is most likely completely RNG, but there is a chance that Link will glide off the Sheikah Tower on a Cucco. This is a bit of a secret as many players have reported never having seen this before after dozens of hours of playing the game, whereas others report getting the fun animation right on one of their first missions. However, that might have just been sheer luck.
Cuccos are a classic in the Zelda series. And most fans have experienced Link perishing to a violent Cucco attack or gliding off a hill holding a Cucco by its legs firsthand at some point, so it’s fair to admit that this is more than adequate for the setting.
8Scarecrows
Ever since the game’s demo, fans have noticed a small easter egg that calls back toOcarina of TimeandMajora’s Mask. There are scarecrows scattered across various villages in Hyrule. They have an odd similarity to those in the N64 games — with their blue vests and red bandanas as well as their familiar hats, they resemble the dancing scarecrows quite closely.

Little secrets such as this are not uncommon in the Zelda series, and fans of these older games will certainly be happy to encounter them.
7Akkala Buns Recipe
At last, the Akkala Buns recipe has been revealed — and it is just as disgusting as one could’ve imagined.
For those unfamiliar with the Akkala Buns, it’s asecret recipe for a food item inBreath of the Wild. Akkala Buns are sold by an NPC named Khini that can be found at the East Akkala Stable. This odd item needs to be eaten right away. In fact, Khini asks Link to close his eyes and not look at it before eating it. It’s a bit strange but on the bright side, it only costs 10 rupees.
In Age of Calamity, this recipe is at last revealed and it is actually made out of four Tireless Frogs which seem to be wrapped in a leaf. However, the image is pixelated to maintain some of its mystery.
6The Graveyard
This secret was pointed out byGameXplain, and though it may seem like a coincidence, it is just too spot-on to be a mere accident. InAge of Calamity, there is a graveyard that is much too similar to the one found inOcarina of Time’s Kakariko Village.
Not only do the headstones feature an image of a fairy, but when compared toOcarina of Time 3Dit is clear that the same headstone (the second from the left) is pushed back in this seemingly random graveyard.
5Sheikah Letters
In one of the first cutscenes inHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the players are met withthe small egg-guardian, now known as Terrako, and it actives a strange otherworldly portal after playing a short tune.

Terrako enters the portal and travels through time to warn the Princess and the Champions of what will soon occur in order to try and change the past. It is hard to tell what is written around the portal in Sheikah letters. However, thankfully,theorists have already deciphered itand found out that it translates to “open gate of time.”
4Sooga
Sooga’s last appearance in a cutscene shows his loyalty towards Master Kohga. As they are both attacked by Astor, he vows to defend Kohga even if it costs him his life, and then he is never seen again. Even Kohga himself looks upset after this happens, implying his lackey’s death.
However, there is a hidden secret that hints at his survival. Those that collect the 50 parts needed to repair Terrako in the post-game get to watch the game’s “true credits” that display a short scene in which Sooga can be seen next to Master Kohga.
3Hyrule Castle Walls
AlthoughAge of Calamitydoesn’t feature an open-world, it gives players plenty of freedom to explore between fighting hordes of monsters.

One of the last missions of the game takes place inHyrule Castleand there are quite a few walls that can be broken using remote bombs. Some of the walls will even be the same as inBreath of the Wild.One will hide a Korok, another one will hide a chest, just like the wall that hid the Royal Guard Uniform. Players can also receive apples from other walls throughout the Castle.
This is most likelya call back toBreath of the Wildsince it would be likely that curious players would attempt to find these specific walls inside the Castle.
2Lon Lon Ranch
Another familiar location that can be found inHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamityis good ol' Lon Lon Ranch. InBreath of the Wildthis place was called “Ranch Ruins” and it was almost completely destroyed.
However, inAge of Calamity, prior to its destruction, the Ranch is nearly identical toOcarina of Time’s Lon Lon Ranch. It is here that Link goes to train and improve his skills with two-handed weapons. After realizing how similar these locations are to one another it may seem obvious, but it is quite easy to miss this one.
1Zelda’s Mother
Zelda’s mother, the late Queen of Hyrule, plays an important part in her daughter’s personality and development, even if she passed away when Zelda was only six. Though she isn’t a character inAge of Calamity, she still plays a crucial rolein the storyas it is due to her interest in science and research that her daughter wants so desperately to pursue it as well.
Zelda theoristMonster Mazehas found an awesome secret that can easily go unnoticed. In the Great Hall, only accessible inAge of Calamity, there is a depiction of the Queen alongside King Rhoam. The Queen’s statue even strikes a very common pose throughout the Zelda series.
