Eveli and the player embark on a journey that starts off small, but escalates into a world-saving escapade. With hours of gameplay ahead, it can be a little tough to keep up with all the small details of the story. Here are a few details players might’ve missed while playingBlackwood.

10The Naga Of Blackwood Are Worse Than Those Of Murkmire

The Sul-Xan are a tribe of Naga, a type of Argonian, that live in various parts of Black Marsh. The Sul-Xan are a Naga tribe that, according to Keshu the Black Fin, “revere the forces of death and chaos.” They not recognize authority outside of their leaders. Keshu advises stealth to avoid confrontation, because of how brutal they are. She tells the player that they sacrifice their enemies to the dark forces they serve.

The average Naga tribes are already aggresive anddon’t trust outsiders, but it seems the Sul-Xan are a more violent group of Naga. None of them can be interacted with in the game, and all will attack the character if approached.

9The Mysterium Xarxes Appears Sentient

No one knows how most of the Daedric artifacts were made. The Mysterium Xarxes isan enigmatic Daedric artifactwell-known amongst the fanbase. It appears to be a harmless book, but this artifact was written by Mehrunes Dagon himself. Eveli carries the book with her throughout most of the main quest, unaware of what it is. On occasion, she says she can almost feel what the book is feeling.

The Mysterium Xarxes appears to tell her what to do when breaking the wards in the Doomvault Capraxus. She even comments that the book almost feels alive to her during these times.

8No One Knows Where Lyranth Went

The Dremora Daedra,Lyranth, helps the player and Eveli throughout the main quest. However, no one knows where she is now. After helping the player and Eveli find the third Ambition, she opens a portal for them to escape through and tells the player that they’ll meet again. Yet, she doesn’t appear in the main story after this.

Considering she helped find three of the four Ambitions, it would not be surprising if she’s already looking for the fourth one. Perhaps fans may see her again in a future expansion.

7Eveli Sharp-Arrow Is More Powerful Than Some Realize

Eveli thinks the Mysterium Xarxes is simply a mysterious book that gives her bad dreams and visions. However, the Mysterium Xarxes is a Daedric artifact of great power and evil, said to have a corrupting influence. Most people need magical protections in order to handle or attempt to read it safely.

Yet Eveli doesn’t have anything to protect her from its corruption, and she appears to be fine. Aside from the visions and dreams, she doesn’t appear to have suffered ill effects. Very few mortals have been able to handle the book without its evil corrupting their souls. Only the strongest can handle it, and it appears that Eveli is one of them.

6The Order Of The Waking Flame Is The Mythic Dawn’s Predecessor

If some parts of the main storyline seem familiar to longtimeElder Scrollsfans, it’s because they closely parallelThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The Order of the Waking Flame is considered the predecessor ofthe Mythic Dawn, the cult that started the Oblivion Crisis inOblivion. Both groups share a lot of similarities.

In both storylines, players have to stop one of these cults from merging Nirn and the Deadlands. Both groups are fiercely loyal to Mehrunes Dagon, the Daedric Prince of Ambition and Destruction, who was very close in both his attempts to control Nirn. He was stopped by the Vestige inThe Elder Scrolls Online, and the Hero of Kvatch inThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

5The Dark Brotherhood Can Hold Grudges

At the beginning ofBlackwood’s main quest, the Dark Brotherhood is framed for the murders of the Elder Council. Elam Drals, a member of the Brotherhood, confronts the player and Eveli, telling them the Brotherhood isn’t responsible. He doesn’t fault them for thinking the Dark Brotherhood is behind the murders, but wants to deal with the person framing the guild.

Elam will help the player and Eveli a few times throughout the quest. Gamers can recruit him before the final confrontation against Vandacia and the Order of the Waking Flame. After the battle, Elam tells the player he won’t help them find the fourth Ambition, and that he only helped because it was personal to him.

4The Doomvault Capraxus Is A Preview Of Mehrunes Dagon’s Plan

During the main quest, the player and Eveli Sharp-Arrow will travel to an area called the Doomvault Capraxus. At first, it comes off as a normal vault. However, Eveli and the player will find themselves in an area that looks like the Deadlands and Nirn combined.

The overall look of this area shows Dagon’s ultimate plan for Nirn. He wants to merge the realms, believing that Nirn is a realm of Oblivion that should be his to rule. This setting shows that he has already absorbed some bits of Nirn into his realm.

3The Ambitions Are Ticking Timebombs

The Ambitions of Mehrunes Dagon are weapons that the Order of the Waking Flame search for in the main quest. These Ambitions are actually mortalsimbued with Dagon’s power. Twins Calia and Destron received their powers shortly after birth, then were locked away in a vault. Every year, Dagon gave them more power and trained the twins to use them. Once free from their vault, the two slowly begin losing control of their powers.

Sombren, another Ambition, helps train them to use their powers so they don’t lose control. He realizes that all of three of them are extremely dangerous, and even tells the player that if they can’t control their powers, they could easily end the world. At the end of the main quest, he and Calia depart for the Deadlands so he can teach her to control her powers.

2The Deadlands Is Larger Than Expected

It seems the Deadlands is a lot bigger than most fans think. Sombren reveals that he trained touse his Ambition powersin the Deadlands under the guidance of a Daedra. Destron and Calia were locked in a vault in the Deadlands to protect them from the outside world, and to protect the outside world from their powers.

Players ask Sombren at the end of the story if going to the Deadlands is safe. Sombren replies that Mehrunes Dagon and the Order won’t be able to find them there, and that it’s the last place Dagon and the cult would think to look. He also mentions that the Deadlands naturally drain their power, so he can train Calia safely there.

1The Fourth Ambition Is Still Out There

With three of the four Ambitions found, no one knows who or where the fourth Ambition is at the end of the story. There are no hints or clues on who could be. Sombren, though, assumes that the fourth Ambition is either locked in their vault or wandering around the world.

After finishing the main quest, Eveli and the player character agree that they do still need to find the fourth Ambition. However, neither have a clue on where to start looking. It may be a tale for a later chapter ofElder Scrolls Online.
