While the series is primarily renowned for its epic battles, the characters who bringBleachto life are severely underrated. Some of these characters stand out for their cynicism, each having distinct reasons for seeing the world through jaded lenses, adding a unique layer of complexity and intrigue to the series. Here are some of the most cynical characters fromBleach.

8Gremmy Thoumeaux

Gremmy is a somewhat selfish individual who takes pride in his ability, and rightly so. He genuinely believes he is the mostpowerful Sternritter thanks to his abilityto create anything from his imagination, even life.

He boasted to Zaraki that he would not have to lift a finger to defeat him. The lives of his comrades and creations mean nothing to him, as evidenced by the time he summoned a giant meteor that would wipe out all the people on the battlefield. However, his final battle with Zaraki changed his outlook on life, as he finally had a rival to challenge him.

7As Nodt

As Nodt is quite similar to Gremmy in this aspect, with both of them feeling their powers are too great to overcome. The concept ofirrational fear, which his powersare based on, is quite menacing. Everyone has fears, and As derives joy in bringing them out and using them to his advantage.

As spent most of his last moments as a human bedridden in the aftermath of an accident, so no one can blame him for going down that path. He also likes going on about the nature of fear to his opponents in a menacing manner.

6Szayelaporro Granz

Szayelaporro is the narcissistic and prideful chief scientist of the Espada. His cynical outlook on life stems from believing that his intellect raises him above others. He is also quite ruthless to his friends and foes, viewing them as test subjects.

Racist would also be a good word to describe him, stemming from his hate for all races that are not hollows, hoping that Aizen will one day wipe them out. He also enjoys demoralizing his opponents and will not hesitate to use another person as a host body in his quest for self-preservation.

5Giselle Gewelle

Giselle masquerades her true selfwith a goofy demeanor most times. But her true nature shows on the battlefield, using reverse psychology on her opponents to get them to activate her ability by striking her. With her power, she forced Shinigami to kill themselves while fully conscious of their actions despite their pleas.

Quincies need to be dead to be zombified, and Giselle had no problems killing Bambietta and turning her into a zombie while also constantly maltreating and brutalizing her in that state despite formerly being comrades.

4Aizen Sosuke

Aizen is one of the few characters with a god complex, perpetrating all sorts of evil acts with a smile on his face. His manipulative nature was well masqueraded by a casual and soft-spoken charade he put on during his time as a captain.

He is the only character stated to have no fear throughout the series, and that is why he is able to command the respect of the Arrancars despite not being one of them.In his Hogyoku form,Aizen is even more cynical, believing that he stands above all Shinigamis, Hollows, and fusions of both.

3Ulquiorra Cifer

Ulquiorra is the closest character to a hitman agent in this series, demonstrating no emotions throughout the course of the story. During one of his conversations with Orihime, he stated that he does not believe in feelings and emotions, trusting only what his eyes can see.

Due to his unique take on life and death, he views all forms of socialization as unimportant and a waste of time. Healso has a habit of stabbinghis opponents with his hands in the same place where his Hollow hole is located.

2Mayuri Kurotsuchi

The Captain of the 12th Division, Kurotsuchi Mayuri, is very similar to Szayelaporro in terms of personality, with their talent and intellect levels being the only thing separating them. One would think as a Captain, he is supposed to uphold good morals, but he only answers to himself and his desire to research.

Before his appointment at the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, Mayuri was the only prisoner deemed dangerous enough to be locked in the Maggot Nest’s confinement cell, and it is evidenced by his disregard for life in general, viewing every possible person andsituation he comes across as an opportunityfor a test.

1Yhwach

Yhwach has a very twisted moral compass, constantly declaring himself as a lover of peace but is quick to incite violence against Shinigami and Arrancars. He loves a good show of force and will not hesitate to brutalize Arrancars who have sworn allegiance to him once they have overstayed their welcome.

Giving out a part of his soul to heal people, only to shorten their lifespan and increase his power, should be considered the most cynical thing. He was alsoresponsible for killing numerous Quinciesdeemed impure when he awakened.
