Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthis the latest effort by Square Enix to recapture a classic in theFinal Fantasy 7remake trilogy, and it has found success in a multitude of ways. From its improved visuals to its new combat and affinity mechanics,Final Fantasy 7Rebirthis a worthwhile addition to the franchise for veterans and newcomers alike. That being said, there is still plenty of room between now and the inevitable Part 3 for another INTERmission episode similar to the one that launched shortly afterFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, and it could potentially borrow a feature introduced inFinal Fantasy 16’s Rising Tide DLC.

Final Fantasy 16’s Rising Tide DLC brings a host of new additions to the base game, including a new story, a new area to explore, new enemies to battle, new quests to complete, and new gear and items to acquire. One of The Rising Tide’s most notable additions isClive’s new Leviathan skills, which complete his arsenal of elemental Eikonic abilities by offering a full set of ranged maneuvers different from anything else in his skill tree. However, one other addition sees players taking on one of the most challenging activities the game has ever seen, and it could be something forFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthto look at for inspiration when it comes to a potential INTERmission episode between now and the release ofFinal Fantasy 7 RemakePart 3.

FF7 Rebirth Should Release an INTERmission Episode With FF16: The Rising Tide’s Most Challenging Activity

Final Fantasy 16’s Kairos Gate Is Challenging But Rewarding

As if all thatFinal Fantasy 16’s Rising Tide DLCadds to the base game isn’t enough, it adds the Kairos Gate activity on top of it all to give players even more content and rewards. While Kairos Gate could stand to have some more replay value, it is still an activity worth completing, especially for those who enjoy a challenge.

Kairos Gatesees players progressing through a series of increasingly challenging battles where they face multiple waves of enemies and bosses and are rewarded for their efforts at the end of it all. It’s a refreshing change of pace for the game with its gear restrictions, asFinal Fantasy 16has often been criticized for being too easy. WhileFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthhasn’t received the same criticism, it could still benefit from its own Kairos Gate, as it would fit in well with the rest of the game’s activities.

A Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth INTERmission Episode Could Include Its Own Kairos Gate

It could be argued that anyFinal Fantasygame could have its own version of Kairos Gate, but it would be especially welcome in aFinal Fantasy 7 RebirthINTERmission episode.Rebirthhas become known for its fun and often frustrating mini-games likeQueen’s Blood, so a “mini-game” of sorts likeFinal Fantasy 16’s Kairos Gate would fit right in. Furthermore, if this version of Kairos Gate provided players with rewards in subsequent playthroughs ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, or even in Part 3 of the trilogy, it would be even more worthwhile.

It goes without saying that an INTERmission episode forFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthwould be a worthwhile addition, even without its own version of The Rising Tide’s Kairos Gate. However, a Kairos Gate that not only reprises some ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s most iconic enemies but also rewards players with stronger gear and beneficial items on completion would find a good home in an INTERmission episode between now and Part 3 of theFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketrilogy.
