Patti Lupone recently dropped some details on her upcoming role in Disney Plus’Agatha: Coven of Chaosseries, including her character in the Marvel Studios series.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos, a spin-off of the popularWandaVision, follows Agatha (played expertly by Kathryn Hahn) along with a coven of other witches and their adventures/misadventures. Drawing from characters in the Marvel Universe - new and old - the spin-off series is set to star acast that includes Aubrey Plaza, Emma Caulfield Ford, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, and Ali Ahn. The title character, Agatha, was last seen trapped in her Agnes persona after losing to Wanda.

During a recent appearance onThe View, Lupone gave some new details onAgatha: Coven of Chaosand her role. “Well it’s a coven of witches, and I play Lilia Calderu, who apparently is in the Marvel world," Lupone said. “And I researched her, she’s hot! She’s really hot! She is! She’s got a great body, raven hair.” While Calderu is not yet a character who has appeared on the screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, comic book fans will recognize her as the witch ally of Doctor Strange who is tasked with maintaining the Book of Cagliostro. She is also related to Karl Mordo, who appeared inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Lupone also gave some new details onLocke’s mysteriousAgatha: Coven of Chaosrole. “We are a coven of witches, and the witches are Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, and the familiar — if anybody knows ‘Heartstopper’ — is Joe Locke.” She continues, “And Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and myself. And I play Lilia Calderu, a 450-year-old Sicilian witch, whose power is divination, and whose trial is tarot.”

Details onAgatha: Coven of Chaosand its characters have been tightly under wraps since it began production, but this news is exciting for fans. Lupone, who has a multi-decade career on the small and large screen and on Broadway, brings serious talent to the project. She was most recently seen inAmerican Horror Story: NYCandA24’sBeau is Afraid.

Agatha: Coven of Chaoshas generated excitement among Marvel and Disney fans since it was announced and will surely draw from the comics to round out its cast of witches. The new series will also include some characters fromWandaVision, includingEmma Caulfield Ford’s Dottie, another woman trapped in the Westfield fantasy world who may or may not be a witch.

Agnes: Coven of Chaosis expected to premiere on Disney Plus in late 2023 or early 2024.
