With the drastic uptick in difficulty inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, players should be looking for every edge they can find to level the playing field against the monstrous bosses of the DLC.
One of the most reliable ways to do that is through item crafting. Finding alternative means of damaging your enemies rather than just a sword swing or a simple spell is the difference between having a hard time and cruising through. And the Shadow Realm is chock-full of new recipes to discover in the form of cookbooks. Among these are Igon’s Cookbooks, which give access to recipes especially useful against dragon-type enemies likeBayle the Dread.
Igon’s Cookbook [1] Location
Igon’s Cookbook [1] can be found in a small broken down stone structure directly north of theGrand Altar of Dragon Communion. The building has a small door leading inside, but it’s possible to jump over the wall as well. The Cookbook is on the corpse hunched over to the side.
If you haven’t reached The Grand Altar yet, the quickest route here goes through the Dragon’s Pit dungeon, which can be found by taking the road heading east in front of Castle Ensis.
Players will be able to obtain theDragon Hunter’s Great Katanaby defeating the Ancient Dragon-Man, the boss of the Dragon’s Pit.
Igon’s Cookbook [2] Location
Igon’s Cookbook [2] can be found on theJagged Peak. From the Jagged Peak Mountainside Site of Grace, turn east, and you’ll see a rocky path hugging the side of the mountain filled with rock slimes. Ignore the slimes and continue along the path to find a corpse with a purple item at the very end. Interact with it to pick up the Cookbook.
How to Use Igon’s Cookbook [1] & [2]
Combined, Igon’s Cookbook [1] and [2] give players access to three recipes players can make using Item Crafting from the main menu:
Crafting Materials
Dragon Communion Grease
Can be coated on a weapon to give a potent anti-dragon effect
Dragon Communion Flesh
Boosts vigor, stamina, strength, and dexterity at the cost of gradually losing HP.
BothSharp Gravel StoneandDragon’s Calorbloomcan be found in the Jagged Peak area.
