With such big games releasing in October, it makes sense that some titles would want to distance themselves a bit and have more of a fighting chance at securing consumer dollars.

This is why the decision was made to delay thenewAlone in the Darkgamefrom October 2023 to May 12, 2025. The official tweet also said that this will allow the developers to “ensure a breathtaking experience for everyone,” which suggests that the extra time could be used to polish the game even further than it would be otherwise, though that’s not explicitly stated. In any case, horror game fans will have to wait until January to play the new version of the survival-horror classic.
For those that haven’t been following the game, the newAlone in the Darkis a new take on the original, withHollywood talent David Harbour and Jodie Comerstarring as the two main playable characters. It re-imagines the originalAlone in the Darkstory, but with gameplay that is more reminiscent of games like theResident Evil 2remake. What’s been shown ofAlone in the Darkhas looked promising so far, and so it’s safe to say that there will be many horror fans disappointed to learn about its delay.
But while fans will have to wait until January 2024 to play the full version ofAlone in the Dark, they can play a small piece of the game right now. Earlier this year, anAlone in the Darkdemo was released that serves as a playable prologue for the final product. The demo should give players a taste of what they can expect from the full game when it launches early next year.
