The Best Easter Eggs in Another Crab’s Treasure

A Suspicious Shell

Some of the biggest andbest Easter eggs inAnother Crab’s Treasurecan be found very easily, and can be found fairly early on in the game. After defeating the Duchess and leaving the Shallows, players will reach a delightfully strange metropolis known as New Carcinia. If players make their way to the shop in the city’s Upper Crust, they’ll be able to find a handful of references to other popular franchises, all appearing as various purchasable items in the shop.

The first Easter egg players will spot is a wearable shell based on the now-iconicRed Crewmate fromAmong Us. Named “Impostor,” this shell’s description reads “A plush visage of a legendary traitor,” and comes with a unique Shell Spell ability that allows players to vanish in a cloud of ink.

Some Familiar Costumes

The New Carcinia shop is home to a few more Easter eggs, this time taking the form of unlockable costumes for player-character Kril. The first of these is an outfit simply titled “Mr. Kril,” which gives the crab a pair of slacks, an accompanying belt, and a pale blue shirt, a clear reference toSpongeBob SquarePants' Mr. Krabs. This shop also sells a “Cult Leader” outfit, which gives Kril a sheep-like head of hair, a black crown, and a red shawl, referencing 2022’s Indie darlingCult of the Lamb.

Later on in the game, players will come across another Easter egg outfit, this one referencingDark Souls' sun-worshipping Knight Solaire. This is just one of many FromSoftware references inAnother Crab’s Treasure, with the game paying homage to the incredibly influential developer a good few times, including naming its open-world area “The Sands Between,” a reference toElden Ring’s Lands Between.

A Home Fit for a Sponge

Before launch,Another Crab’s Treasuredrew a lot of comparisons withSpongeBob SquarePants, mostly due to its vibrant and colorful depiction of undersea life. Thankfully, it seems as thoughdeveloper Aggro Crabis happy with the comparisons, withAnother Crab’s Treasurebeing home to severalSpongeBobreferences. On top of the aforementioned Mr. Krabs outfit, players can also find SpongeBob’s iconic pineapple house, though here it’s made of glass.

A QR Code at The Player’s Expense

In various corners ofNew Carcinia, players can find a QR code plastered on top of some environmental objects. If players scan this code, then they’ll be immediately taken to the YouTube video “You got Coconut Malled,” a Rick Roll-like video that loudly proclaims they’ve been “Coconut Malled,” and that they should share the video with their friends to “Totally Coconut Mall” them.
