Newcastle’s Backstory and Lore

For the last few years, it’s been heavily rumored that Bangalore’s brother, Lt. Jackson Williams, isn’t quite as dead as the main cast believe. Fleshed out in aStories from the Outlands animated short, Jackson Williams was once a pilot for the IMC, but turned his back on the organization along with his sister during the pivotal battle of Gridiron.

While on the run from the IMC, their ship is attacked, and Jackson is thought to have died in the proceeding battle. However, despite official records, Bangalore has always believed that her brother is still out there somewhere, keeping his identity a secret.

It turns out, Bangalore was right. Though fans don’t know the full details just yet, Newcastle’s reveal trailer ends with him taking off his helmet and revealing to Bangalore that he is in fact her brother.Apex Legendsfansare sure to find out the full extent of Newcastle’s backstory and whereabouts up until this point in his next trailer.

Newcastle’s Abilities

In a similar vein to the information relating to Newcastle’s backstory, his abilities haven’t been fully confirmed yet. That being said, the reveal trailer does seem to hint at his abilities, which closely resemble those specified in the recent leak. In the leak, Newcastle’s passive was described as giving the Legend the ability to drag his teammates while reviving them, while also holding up a shield to absorb incoming fire. From the glimpse ofNewcastle’s abilitiesin the official trailer, this passive ability does seem to be present, with Newcastle being shown to lift Pathfinder away from the battlefield while protecting him with a portable shield.

Newcastle’s leaked tactical ability also seems to line up with the official reveal trailer, as Newcastle can be seen throwing out a small forcefield for his allies. Newcastle’s leaked tactical ability specified that he’d be able to throw out a controllable drone that creates a portable shield in front of the Legend. While it may not end up coming from a drone, and it may not be a mobile forcefield, the general idea is the same.

The leak also describedNewcastle’s ultimate ability, which may have changed a little for the final product. In the leak, this ultimate ability saw Newcastle place down a fortified barrier that would be large enough for an entire team to rally behind. While Newcastle’s true ultimate ability is yet to be confirmed, the trailer does show him putting down a small shield barrier.

If this does end up being his ultimate, this downscaling may have been done to keep the game balanced.Apex Legendsfans are sure to find out more when another Newcastle trailer drops later this week.
