Apex Legendsseason 12 is not far away now and will bring with it a bevy of new content such asMad Maggie, an Olympus map update, and the new Control LTM. In the meantime, players are likely enjoying the season during this wind-down time and finishing up their Battle Pass if they haven’t already. This period in any battle royale or live service game is typically quiet, but something has recently caught the eyes of a lot ofApexfans.

Namely, there is a new holospray in the shop that has garnered fan attention. It’s not normally a good thing if a lot of players are super-focused on one item inApex Legends, as it’s usually a negative reception to the pricing nature of the shop. Nonetheless, this time around, it seems fans are loving the new “Always Has Been” meme holospray.

For context, Always Has Been is a meme format dating back to 2018. It began as a simple MS painting of an astronaut looking at the planet, with another astronaut putting a gun at the first one. The first Astronaut will say something along the lines of “wait, it’s flat?, “wait, it’s all USA?,” “wait, it’s all tendies?,” “wait, it’s allBaja Blast?,” or any sort of exclamation that Earth isn’t what it actually appears to be. The second astronaut consistently responds, “Always Has Been.”

The newApex Legendsholospray takes this meme and applies it to the in-game universe. This time around, there is oneApex Legendsdummylooking at the planet, while another points a gun at them, and a third astronaut points a gun at the second. It’s clearly in reference to the meme but also builds on the common gameplay aspect of “third parties,” or when a third party enters a firefight between two others for an easy win.

Overall, it’s a good use of the meme and a little on the hilarious side. It can be seen asApex Legendspoking a little fun at itself, as players often do too in this regard. It’s very common to hate being third-partied, with players often commenting on which maps lead to this most often, but players themselves continue and enjoy third-partying another team.

It’s a pretty uniqueApex Legendsholospray, and one that the community seems to unanimously be enjoying. It’s not divisive in any regard, unlikecat ears inHalo Infinite, even if that’s somewhat similar (a meme aspect, in a way). It remains to be seen if Respawn adds any more meme references to the game, but eagle-eyed fans will surely spot them if the company does.

Apex Legendsis available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
