The Special Operations Squad was set up inAttack on Titanby Captain Levi Ackerman, humanity’s strongest warrior. This squad was set upto prevent Eren Yeagerand Historia Reiss from falling into the hands of the Titans, as they needed protection.

Thanks to their incredible understanding of each other, they went on to become core characters ofAttack on Titanand their coordination on various occasions led tothe people of Paradisfighting back against the Titans for the first time. This squad plays a significant role inAttack on Titanand it also consists of some of the most beloved characters in the entire story.
7Connie Springer
Connie joins the 104th Cadet Corps with great ambition. After undergoing rigorous training with everyone else, he was eventually handpicked by Levi Ackerman and thus became a member of the Special Operations Squad.
He played a significant role in trying to keep Eren and Historia safe from the Armored and Colossal Titans, and even though he failed on occasions, Connie went on to play a significant role in the story as well. His character evolves further and he is one of the few who did not succumb to an early death.
6Jean Kristein
Although in search of a peaceful life at the beginning,Jean Kristein joined the 104th Cadet Corpsand went on to be ranked the sixth best in the group. While he has nothing too special going on for himself, he is a character with strong conviction and he has shown that on several occasions.
Levi saw something in him, which is why he was chosen for the Special Operations Squad as well. He went on to fulfill his potential as he even led a group during the raid on Liberio, which just goes to show that he also has leadership skills. Although he is not the biggest fan of Eren, he went on to successfully complete the mission that he was assigned and he played a significant role in fighting back against the Titans.
5Sasha Braun
The village girl, Sasha Braun joined the 104th Cadet Corps and eventually made her way to the Special Operations Squad alldue to Eren being determinedto stop the Titans. She was known for her strong inclination towards hoarding food yet, I was loved alike by all her teammates.
Sasha also played an active part in the raid on Liberio, however, unfortunately, she ended up losing her life. Sasha always fought with her life on the line and did what she could to keep Historia and Eren safe. Fans will always remember her as one of the most beloved characters in the story.
4Historia Reiss
Historia Reiss is one of the most important charactersin the entirety ofAttack on Titan. Holding tremendous power within herself, Historia was one of the two most important people that the Special Operations Squad had to protect.

Despite being one needing protection, Historia often found her own way out of her problems, as seen when conflict with her father unfolded. She also showed incredible resolve going forward when the truth about the Titans was brought forward to the people of Paradis.
3Armin Arlert
Armin Arlert is one of the main characters in Attack on Titan and among Eren’s best friends. Along with Eren and Mikasa, he joins the 104th Cadet Corps and ends up being handpicked by Levi Ackerman as a part of the Special Operations Squad as well.
Armin isn’t anything special when it comes to fighting, but he makes clever use of his brain and has saved his teammates on countless occasions. He contributed significantly to saving both Eren and Historia on several occasions, thanks to his brain alone.
2Mikasa Ackerman
Where Armin lacks in brawn, Mikasa makes up for it. Just like him, she is an incredibly important character and one of Eren’s closest confidants. Mikasa is also one of the main focuses of the entire story and her power was enough for Levi to pick her for the Special Operations Squad.
She trained to a degree where she was able to synchronize with her teammates incredibly fast. She has also saved both Eren and Historia from falling into the enemies' hands on several occasions and is, without a doubt, one of the strongest characters in the story.
1Eren Yeager
Eren is the main character ofAttack on Titanand easily the most important one. When the Attack Titan was passed on to him, he did not immediately have full control over its powers. As such, Eren needed a lot of protection from his teammates.
Despite not being the greatest asset that he later went on to become, Eren held his own against several powerful Titans, including the Female Titan and even the Armored Titan, later on. Eren also helped save Historia as a part of the Special Operations Squad and fought his own way out of trouble several times.
