A new rumor has surfaced that suggests Rocksteady Studio’s new game may be exclusive to theXbox Series X. The rumor comes from a trusted NeoGAF user with a history of getting these types of scoops right. It says that a new game in the DC Universe, whether it beSupermanorJustice Leagueor evenBatman, may be an Xbox Series X exclusive. This description just so happens to line up with what people have speculated Rocksteady has been working on since shippingArkham Knightway back in 2015.

Rocksteady is a developer best known for making theBatman Arkhamtrilogy of games, breaking onto the game dev scene in 2009 when it releasedBatman: Arkham Asylumto massive critical acclaim. Since wrapping up its trilogy ofArkhamgames (Arkham Originswas not developed by Rocksteady but by WB Montreal), the studio has been hard at work on something new. Over the past handful of years, leaks and rumors have indicated that Rocksteady is still working with in the DCEU, perhaps on aSupermanorJustice Leaguegame. Now, these rumors hold even more water than before.

The rumor comes by way of NeoGAF user OsirisBlack, a leaker with a reliable history of reporting vague information ahead of time like when they accurately predicted the specs of the PlayStation 4 Pro. The post says that Rocksteady’s next game will be announced by Microsoft at E3 2020 alongsideKiller Instinct 2. However, there is not much in way of hard evidence that Rocksteady’s next game will be an Xbox exclusive.

This information likely puts the game sometime in 2020, especially given the news that theXbox Series X will not have true exclusivesfor at least the first year of the console’s life cycle. That does leave the possibility open that whatever DC project the studio is working on may come to both Xbox One and Xbox Series X when it launches.

There is also little credence to the rumor that it is anotherBatmangame considering thecryptic teasing going on from WB Montrealright now. The nextBatmangame, which may or may not haveArkhamin the title, is going to come from that studio and is rumored to focus on the Court of Owls storyline introduced in more recent comics. AfterArkham Knightwas intended to be the final game in the trilogy, Rocksteady said it would not return to working onBatmangames. So maybe it’s aSupermangame or the previously rumoredSuicide Squad. We will just have to wait and find out when Rocksteady officially teases or announces something later this year.
