Bayonetta 3fans have been hoping for info on the game for a long time now, as nothing meaningful has been shown for the project since its 2017 reveal. Unfortunately, the E3 Nintendo Direct continued this trend, withBayonetta 3no showing the special event.

Fans hopes for someBayonetta 3news were understandable, as director Hideki Kamiya had shared his hopes abouta newBayonetta 3updatecoming this year. With the E3 Direct being such a big stage for the game to be shown, it seemed like the best possible chance for the game to appear. Unfortunately, like all the other years, the latest entry in theBayonettafranchise was nowhere to be seen. In response, fans have shared their fears about the project, with many pointing to the canceled Platinum Games projectScaleboundas a reason for their fears.

All across the internet, gamers have been quick to say that the game is doomed. Some have even suggested thatdevelopment onBayonetta 3has stopped, something that goes directly against Kamiya’s own comments about Platinum Games making good progress. Always outspoken, the director replied to some of these baseless claims by calling those that were spreading them “idiots.” He then proceeded to explain his frustration in some follow-up Tweets.

According to Kamiya, his specific issue is with “reckless remarks” about development stopping or the game being “delayed” indefinitely. He calls these baseless accusations “annoying” and a “waste” as well. While Kamiya is understandably frustrated with these comments, it is easy to understand why fans are concerned about the game. It was announced four years ago, and despite several comments that development is going well, nothing has been seen. With many hoping that2021 would beBayonetta 3’s year, the lack of footage is devastating.

At the same time, Kamiya is correct about how bad it can be to spread misinformation. While it is fine to be concerned, saying that the game has been canceled without any remarks from Platinum Games or Nintendo is a major issue, as many could start to believe something about the game that is not true at all. For now, it seems like it would be for the best if fans tookKamiya’s advice from earlier this yearand lowered their expectations forBayonetta 3news. While development is supposedly going well, the newBayonettanot appearing at E3 makes a 2021 update a lot less likely to happen.

DespiteBayonetta 3being absent from E3yet again, Kamiya’s anger seems to imply that the game is still in a good place and there is nothing going on behind the scenes to worry about. However, when exactlyBayonetta 3will be seen in action seems to be anyone’s guess, as this situation feels eerily similar to the ones that have played out over the past few years.
