There are many people who will be able to immediately take to the game, whether from previous experience with other hockey or sports games. Players might not be able to pick up the game and play and may need somebeginner tipsbefore they can get started on their path to glory inNHL 23.
7Change The Lines When Players Get Tired
It is perfectly normal for a player’s teammates to get tired if they have been on the ice for a while. This is something that is to be expected in the game and can severely limit the gameplay if a player does not work around the exhaustion of their teammates.
If their teammates are tired, it will make them more susceptible to enemy attacks, and less likely to execute moves flawlessly. It will be best to switch them out, changing their lines to ensure that they are using teammates with their stamina at full.
6Try Going With The Playmaker Archetype First
There are multiple Archetypes that a player could pick for their gameplay inNHL 23. It is worth notingthat they cannot changethis Archetype while they are in the middle of a game. As such, it is a good idea for a player to think carefully about their Archetype.
However, if a player truly, sincerely cannot make a choice, it would be best to go with the Playmaker Archetype. The Playmaker Archetype is very easy for new players to get used to while going through the gameNHL 23, and can be used to get used to the other parts of the game as well.
5Use The Trait Points To Improve Ratings
After fans start playing through the game a bit, getting a good feel of things, and participating in some matches, they will soon figure out that they will gain XP. This XP - the experience of the game - will soon turn into Trait Points.

Trait Points are going to be the player’s best friend when it comes to improving their team and becoming the best on the ice. Essentially, Trait Points can be used to improve the ratings of their teammates, which will causenoticeable improvementsin the gameplay later on.
4Requesting Trades Can Be Risky
It is possible for a player to initiate trades in the game. These trades, if they are pulled off properly, can cause the player to be put on a much better team if they are lucky. However, it is possible for a player to not only be put on a worse team, but also not even be allowed to trade to begin with.
Once the season starts, a player will have to approach their GM in order to be put on another team. They will have to try and persuade their GM to do so, and there is always a chance that they will be denied.
3Aim For The Passes
A player will soon figure out that a large part of what it takes to win in the gameNHL 23is to be the player who spends the most time attacking. On top of this, there will also beplayers who can immediately perfecttheir passes, making the puck go exactly where they want it.

Ensuring that their passes are properly aimed will be incredibly important. The left joystick moves the player, but it can also serve to aim the passes properly, so keep that in mind.
2Camera Angles Affect The Shot
Something that many players may not realize is that the angle of the camera that they take does, in fact, affect where they shoot. Depending on how the player has the camera set, the controls of the game will also change depending on where it is angled.
It may take a little while to get used to the camera controls. However, it would very much be worth it in the end. By learning how to manipulate the camera in just the way the player wants, they can angle their shot almost perfectly.
1The One Touch Deke Is Incredibly Useful
If other, more complex, and high-scoring combos are too difficult for a new player to pick up right at the beginning of the game, that is okay. There is one move that can rack up high scores right at the beginning of the game - that being the One-Touch Deke.
This move is rather stylish, and if used at the right time, will blast a player past a defender. However, the more intricate parts of the deke can be a bit more complicated to deal with, so it is best to practice the move anyway.
NHL 23is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5.
