There are several factors one has to take into account when deciding which units to get inDungeons 3. The first is cost; the research necessary for the stronger units is sometimes not worth the investment. Sure, vampires are impressive combatants that can stand toe-to-toe with some of the strongest units in the game thanks to their vampiric healing ability. However, they are seldom worth the cost and time to research. Another factor is the size of the area. Small room for expansion and the population cap forces the player to be more efficient with unit selection.

Yet another factor is what kind of work a unit can perform, and what they require from the player. Some creatures are low-maintenance, while others have a long list of strict demands to stay a member of the player’s army. This list will identify the tenbest units inDungeons 3, and rank them from worst to best.

10Naga

The Naga is not a good combatant despite having more health than most of the units on this list. Their damage is quite pitiful, but at least their attack is a ranged attack. The Naga’s speed is above average; this comes in handy if the enemy gets too close.

This unit made this list for one reason –the Naga can heal Horde units, Thayla, and converted Heroes. They can only heal one unit at a time, and cannot heal themselves. The healing is a life-saver though, figuratively and literally. All long-time players of theDungeons 3have tales of how they were about to lose when a few Nagas arrived and saved the day with their healing ability.

9Succubus

The Succubus starts off fairly weak, for a demon anyway. After getting a few levels though, the Succubus can be useful in a fight due to theirlong-range attack and decent damage-per-second(DPS). Enemy heroes can be temporarily beguiled by the Succubus; this forces them to fight against their friends, or just stand there if no other enemies are present. This unit can also be used to generate mana at the Mana Shrine.

Converted heroes are strong units that don’t count against the population cap.Converting enemy unitsrequires two things: a Torture Chamber and at least one Succubus. There’s a chance this unit would have made this list without the ability to convert heroes.

8Thalya

Thalya is a dark hero the player will have through most of the game. She is essentially theAbsolute Evil’s proxy; as such, she is one of the stronger units in the game. Her standard attack does good damage, but it’s her Fire Bomb attack that sets Thalya apart. This attack has good range, a sizable area of effect, and does enough damage to kill a group of lesser heroes.

If Thalya diesshe can be resurrected; though, keep in mind the more she is upgraded, the higher the cost will be to resurrect her. At level five she can summon shadows to fight for her for a while. These aren’t very strong fighters, but they’re good as meat shields to protect the permanent units.

7Lich

Liches arepowerful undead spellcasters. Like most spellcasters, Liches areglass cannons; they have a ranged attack that does serious damage but can’t take much damage themselves. This unithas a freezing attack that reduces the victims' speed by 50%for five seconds. The cooldown time for their attack is 2.8 seconds. This means the lich can keep heroes frozen indefinitely, or until they’re defeated.

As undead, Lichescannot be permanently killed. If defeated they will be resurrected in the Graveyard. Due to this, players aren’t forced to keep track of where they are during a fight as much as Horde units. They should be kept away from the front lines, but if they are brought down by the enemy they will be back again.

6Dark Ranger

The Dark Ranger is the onlyconverted heroto make this list. That doesn’t mean the other types of converted heroes aren’t good, just not good enough to make the top ten. This unit has aphenomenal range, a fast movement speed, and one of the highest DPS in the game. Use this unit to take down enemy casters, archers, and healers.

Getting a Dark Ranger requires a Torture Chamber and Succubus, but their daily requirements are low considering the bang for the buck these units give the player. Theregular attack of the Dark Ranger slows the targetfor several seconds (2-11 seconds depending on the level).

5Arachnid

The Arachnid is the second strongest Demon unit. These arestrong from the beginning; a level 1 Arachnid is a force to be reckoned with. In fact, a lot of veteran players swear by the strategy of researching Arachnids as soon as possible and using them exclusively. The damage per attack of the Arachnid is high enough totake down even highly armored opponents quickly.

This unit is alsothe best unit to use for mana generation. Forget Orcs and Vampires, the Arachnid is the only frontline fighter the player needs, and they are sturdy enough to be used as a tank; not as good as Ironhides, but Ironhides don’t regenerate.

4Gob-O-Bot

Goblins are throwaway fighters. Give a goblin alarge mechanized suitto wear, and suddenly they arethe strongest standard unit in the game. This suit gives the goblin some armor and a rocket attack that can take down high-level heroes at range when multiple units focus their attack. This rocket attack hits multiple enemies and fires three times every three seconds.

Here’s the kicker;when the Gob-O-Bot is destroyed it explodes. This explosion does 250-430 points of damage to all nearby enemies. The goblin pilot is ejected at full hit points and is invulnerable for a short period. When destroyed, the suit is immediately rebuilt in the Hideout.

3Pit Fiend

The Pit Fiend is the Demon type’s Titan Unit; each creature type has a unique Titan Unit. These are expensive units with serious needs to fulfill, but they are basically a one-unit army. Enemies engaging the Pit Fiend in melee can be burned by its Ring of Fire for 33-96 points of damage (depending on its level). This unit alsohas a fiery breath weaponthat hits for 125-440 damage.

There are negatives to the Pit Fiend. This unitwill not work, they think they are above performing small tasks. This creature needs a large (4x4) space in the Vortex for its lodging. Use this unit with the Magic Poisonbreath trap for some serious damage output.

2Ogre

The Ogre is the Horde’s Titan Unit. This unit has agood balance of offense and defense, but a lot of its needs must be filled to keep it happy. The Ogre has the armor, health, and damage potential to let it act as a decent tank, but there are better tank units. That’s kind of the deal with the Ogre though; it’s not the best at any one thing, but itdoesn’t have any glaring deficiencieseither.

The best attack for the Ogre is Armageddon. This attack is a massive blow that does 100-190 points of damage and stuns nearby enemies for three seconds. Its standard attack, when fully leveled, does a whopping 440 points of damage.

1Grave Golem

This is the defensive Titan Unit, andpossibly the best tankinDungeons 3. The Grave Golem doesn’t do as much damage as the Pit Fiend or Ogre, but the purpose of this unit is not to do a ton of damage. This unit isdesigned to absorb damagewhile the rest of the player’s units handle the enemy.

When facing powerful enemies, the Grave golem has an ability named Tombstone; whichincreases its armor by 1,337. With an armor this high it is almost impossible to damage this thing. In addition to this armor increase, Tombstoneforces enemies to attack the Grave Golem.
