Starfieldhas broken records for Bethesda, in a way setting the tone for everything to come out of Xbox for the next few years. While Microsoft works to finish up its Activision Blizzard acquisition, it has a number of studios under its belt working on exclusives, and it seems they are finally on the rollout. Xbox wants 4 exclusive games per year, and withAvowedandHellblade 2reportedly releasing in 2024, it’s clear how much of that goal is already outlined.
Bethesda is no doubt a powerhouse behind the Xbox content pipeline too, and whileStarfieldmay have released in 2023, it’s time to shine may actually be 2024. Paired with other potential plans, it seems that Bethesda itself will have as big a year as any other company in 2024.

Bethesda Has Big Plans for Starfield in 2024
Obviously, Bethesda plans to continue supportingStarfieldfor some time. Updates and patches are to be expected, but then there’s totally new content. Nothing has been confirmed aboutStarfield’s Shattered Space DLCand what it contains, but fans can reasonably expect it to be released in 2024. Bethesda may want to show it off early next year, if it doesn’t outright reveal a roadmap.
And beyond that, Todd Howard has confirmedofficial mod support forStarfieldwill arrive in 2024. He has promised that Bethesda will go big on the feature, as it has with past games, and that’s just two big, exciting things for Starfield. The possibility for surprise is numbered like the stars, and it stands to reason Bethesda has a few aces in the sleeve still for Starfield’s first post-launch year.
It should also be noted that Bethesda has previously said there wouldn’t be any realElder Scrolls 6newsbeforeStarfield’s release. That doesn’t mean BGS is going to reveal a lot about the game in 2024, nor does it mean that the game is really that much closer to release. But as the Bethesda pipeline advances, so too does the day fans learn something concrete about the game. In a way, ifThe Elder Scrolls 6was in pre-pre-pre season beforeStarfield, it’s now in pre-pre season. That’s not much of a conciliation, but it’s more than what fans had beforeStarfield’s release.
Oblivion Could Seal the Deal in 2024
Starfieldisn’t the only thing Bethesda may have for 2024, though. Recently leaked documents from Xbox accidentally revealed various in-development projects at BGS, among which were plans foranOblivionremaster. The caveat here is that these plans are obviously outdated, and while it listedOblivionfor 2024, that doesn’t make it a guarantee. It’s a possibility though.Starfieldleading the way with new content, while longtime fans may be able to revisitOblivion,a beloved Elder Scrolls games, is basically a winning formula for Bestheda in 2024. Fans shouldn’t expectOblivion, but if it does happen, then it’s clear just how big the year will be for BGS.
Still, ifObliviondoesn’t manifest,Starfieldhas enough plans to retain its limelight for many moons. Bethesda has a strong year already on the books for 2024, and if anything, it’s clear how much potential there is for it to exceed even those big plans.
Starfieldis available now for PC and Xbox Series X.
