Biomutant, an open world action RPG where players take control of a highly customizable anthropomorphic animal, was first revealed with animpressive Gamescom trailer back in 2017. While it was expected to launch within a couple of years of its announcement,Biomutant’s release date has eluded fans - until now, that is. Following an extended development process, theBiomutantrelease date has been confirmed for July 03, 2025.

The release date announcement was made on the officialBiomutantTwitter account, where it was confirmed that the game would be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though a next-gen version ofBiomutantis on the table, despite the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles releasing last November. Even so, owners of those consoles will still be able to playBiomutanton them as both arebackward compatible.

Whenever the game does release, it will be interesting to see if it lives up to the hype.Biomutanthas been compared toZelda: Breath of the Wild, which is not a small comparison to make. Not only that, but it’s also promising to deliver ambitious combat and customization options, which may be tricky to pull off. Fans will find out this coming May.

Prior toBiomutant’s release date reveal, there was some concern that the game was in trouble. The developers were silent about it and its development progress for an extended amount of time, with some believingBiomutantwas canceled. However, financial reports from publisher THQ Nordicreassured fans that the long-in-development game was still in development and planning to release, though they stopped short of providing a specific release window for the game.

Now that fans know when to expectBiomutant, it stands to reason that information on the game will be released at a faster pace. It wouldn’t be surprising ifnewBiomutanttrailerscropped up between now and May 25, giving fans a fresh look at the game’s ambitious gameplay. In fact, it’s surprising that theBiomutantrelease date announcement wasn’t accompanied by a trailer, which is usually the case, so hopefully fans can expect more footage sooner rather than later.

Some may take the lack of newBiomutanttrailers, and the Twitter account’s nonchalant announcement of the release date, as a troubling sign about the game’s development. Those concerns have yet to be founded, but fans will find out how it stacks up when theBiomutantrelease date rolls around on May 25.
