The developers behind theBloodborne Kartgame shows off the first footage of its campaign mode, which includes a boss fight against an iconic enemy, Father Gascoigne. The origins of this strange kart racer come from an independent developer who createda PS1-styled demake of FromSoftware’sBloodborne. Helmed by Lilith Walther, it aimed to turn the PS4 Soulslike adventure into a game that would fit the retro hardware, with the game’s first playable build being released after 13 months of development. After the demake was released, Walther announced a new game that had been a somewhat long-running joke in the fandom,Bloodborne Kart.
Bloodborne Kart’s announcementwas revealed in a teaser trailer, where instead of the Hunter taking on the monsters throughout the streets of Yharnham, players will get the chance to smoke their rivals on the racetrack. It’s a very deliberate sense of dissonance between the game’s gothic premise and the absurd kart racing genre. The game will feature a campaign mode as well, with one of the bosses being Father Gascoigne.

Father Gascoigne is one of the first bosses inBloodborne, and it seems his role inBloodborne Kartseems to be quite similar in this early footage. It even starts with the same intro cutscene from the demake, before cutting to show him on his motorbike, with the player being tasked to catch him. The player gets several actions to attack Gascoigne with while chasing him down the racetrack. The goal is use the items players will find, such as Silver Bullets, and try to whittle down the boss' health while avoiding obstacles like boulders, monsters, and more, Eventually, Gascoigne traps the player in an enclosed arena.
From there, the player will need to fight Gascoigne directly, with the fight combining the battle mode ofMario Kartgames withBloodborne’sown approach to bosses. Once the player has taken the old hunter to half his health, he will crash his bike, before grabbing minigun and fighting the player on foot, now transformed into his beast state like the original game.
According to Lilith Walther, the campaign mode is the last thing that requires development outside moretracks and racers to be added toBloodborne Kart. It will be a linear series of levels, with some story cards in-between to form a narrative. The campaign shall also feature three types of levels, races, battle, or special stages, which offer a unique scenario like this boss fight with Father Gascoigne. Lilith teases that if a player collects all insight in this Kart Racer, they shall unlock something special like theBloodbornePSX demake before it.
Bloodborne Kartis currently in development, while the originalBloodborneis available on PlayStation 4.
