A recent post surfacing online implies that Activision may have suffered a data breach in December 2022, resulting in possibleCall of Duty 2023plans to go public inadvertently. Currently, many fans have expressed concerns over some ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare2 Season 2’s ongoing issueswhile hoping for better changes in 2023. But the alleged leaks will unlikely do any favors for the franchise, particularly considering the upcoming seasonal updates.AlthoughModern Warfare2 is currently in its second season, Activision has yet to reveal its full plans with the franchise in the coming months. While fans have come to expect annual releases with the popular shooter, the company was supposedly not going to ship an annual release this year. However, recent reports claim that afullCall of Duty2023 release is reportedly coming. The attackers had allegedly compromised a high-ranking employee’s account to gain access to sensitive documents, includingCall of Dutycontent plans dating to August 04, 2025. Accordingly, the franchise’s upcoming seasons will reportedly kick off with Season 3 taking place between March 18 and May 15, followed by Season 4 from May 15 to July 16, Season 5 from July 16 to September 15, and Season 6 from September 15 to November 8.
The document also claims a slew of content that will ship along with the upcoming seasons. This includes more gunfights, Spec Ops missions, raids, Tier 1 events, a “Haunting of Saba” event for Halloween, and 70 bundles per season among others. Further, seasons three through six will supposedly feature seven core maps, although some of them may be rehashed older maps. Another “small map” is also reportedly arriving in Season 4, which could likely be similar toModern Warfare2’s Shipment map.
Interestingly, the leaked document details the date for a project titled “Jupiter” that’s supposed to kick off on April 7 leading up to the second half of 2023. While unspecified, it’s likely that project Jupiter may refer to the next main entry of theCall of Dutyfranchise. Of course, it’s worth taking all of this with a pinch of salt and considering the nature of the document. Even if the schedule proves to be verified, Activision will likely change its plans to circumvent the issue. In fact, Activision has already begun teasing upcoming updates, such as thereturn of fan-favorite modes inCall of DutySeason 3. Regardless, time will tell how much of its 2023 content plans will be impacted following this leak.
