It’s been a big week forCall of Duty: Warzone, as the game just kicked off its first season now being integrated withCall of Duty Vanguard. The biggest change with this integration isthe removal of Verdansk asWarzone’s main map, something which has ultimately been the standard location since Warzone launched back in 2020. Now, players are fighting on a new World War 2 inspired map set in the Pacific region known as Caldera.
In addition to a new map, theSeason 1 update also brought in the Ricochet Anti-Cheat systemas well as new content from Vanguard specific playlists and a new battle pass to work through. New content includes operators like Isabella, Francis, and Lewis can be unlocked, as well as the Cooper Carbine, a Katana, and Sawtooth melee weapon to name a few. However, new bundles and Blueprints have also been added to the in-game shop, one of which is starting to cause a stir within the community.

A new blueprint forthe MP40 Submachine gunknown as Space Issue comes with a special attachment known as Vital. According to the game’s description, this attachment increases the size of the critical hit area on enemies, which means that a regular shot to the chest would likely now register as a headshot with extra damage applied. This item gives players an advantage as the time to kill is essentially lowered by using this weapon.
Where players have an issue is that the Space Issue MP40 can only be unlocked by purchasing theCall of Duty: Warzonebattle pass and reaching teir 45. The Vital attachment is not a normal attachment unlock for the MP40, so players will need to spend some money in order to get it. What’s interesting this that the Vital was available as an attachment to the basic MP40, but after launch, it was seemingly removed as an option. Regardless, many fans are worried that this could be the start of a new pay to win trend for future blueprints.
However, it’s not all dire news fromWarzoneplayers. In fact, the fanbase has been largelypraising Raven Software for removing heartbeat sensersfrom one of the new modes. Vangaurd Royale, a mode of Warzone that only utilizes weapons and gadgets fromCall of Duty: Vanguard. Modern tech, like the heartbeat sensor are unavailable, which has been a boon for players who no longer feel they need to have the Ghost perk and can carry other gadgets like the Stim or Smoke Grenade without feeling boxed in to using the sensor.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
