Call of Duty: Warzonehas developed a story arc over the course of its seasons of added content. Treyarch recently released a new cutscene continuing theCall of Duty: Warzonestory, and it hints at a big connection with the originalCall of Duty: Black Ops.
The currentCall of Duty: Warzonestory really kicked off with the launch of Season 3.Call of Duty: Warzone’s Hunt for Adler eventstarted the story off by tasking players with rescuing a captured Russell Adler during matches of the popular battle royale. The story seems to be connected withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s story from its campaign, so many fans suspected that it would connect with the greaterCall of Duty: Black Opsstory.

Now, a tweet from Treyarch seems to confirm that it does connect withCall of Duty: Black Ops. The tweet shows a minute-long cutscene that shows some ofCall of Duty: Warzone’s operators, including Stitch, discussing an unknown plan that motivated Adler’s kidnapping. The cutscene reveals that they are ready to activate the next part of their plan, except for some radio dishes that are blocking their transmissions. The trailer also uses some subtle references toCall of Duty: Black Ops' campaign to hint at what exactly their plan is.
The references include quick flashes ofCall of Duty: Black Ops' infamous numbers brain-washing as well as the chair that players are locked into during much of the game’s campaign. The numbers returning could have a big impact onCall of Duty: Warzone, especially if the trailer’s hint at the numbers being broadcasted to all players in Verdansk comes true.Call of Duty: Warzonehas had big events before, such as the map becoming invaded by zombies, so all of the battle royale’s players being under the influence of the numbers could have far-reaching effects.
It will be interesting to see just whereCall of Duty: Warzonetakes this new development.
