Chainsaw Mandoes a lot of things well. The voice acting between the sub and dub versions is great. The animation is top-notch which is to be expected by this point from the masters over at MAPPA. The studio went above and beyond by creating twelve separate ending themes for each episode too, which is never done in the industry.

8Denji Vs The Zombie Devil

Denji begins this anime with not a lot of power. He is a broken man with one eye and a plethora of missing organs. He has Pochitaby his side as a weapon but this little pup’s blade is not that strong. Denji gets an increase in power after he and Pochita suffer grave injuries.

Pochita sacrifices its body to become Denji’s heart thus creating the titular Chainsaw Man. This opening fight against the Zombie Devil and its hordes is a bloody one. It’s safe to say episode one is a great setup for the action that will follow in season one of this anime.

7Denji Vs Aki

This is not one of the most epic fights in season one of the anime. It isa funny onethat deserves to be highlighted in episode two though. After Makima sends Aki and Denji out on patrol for the first time, Aki takes Denji aside and starts to pummel him in an alleyway.

He thinks he won but is soon surprised when Denji counterattacks with a kick to his family jewels. The two duke it out a bit more before Aki can’t stand getting kicked anymore which is all Denji wants to do.

Himeno in Chainsaw Man

6Denji Vs The Bat Devil

In episode three, Power asks Denji to help rescue her cat Meowy fromthe Bat Devil. This was a trick to lure Denji in for a kill in the hopes the Bat Devil will give Power back her precious cat. Unsurprisingly, the Bat Devil does not keep its word and eats the cat and Power.

Even though Power betrayed him, Denji can’t stand by and let the Bat Devil get away with eating them both. He does do it for selfish reasons though because he wants to fondle Power as promised. It’s still a sweet sentiment that leads into an amazing fight that puts the Bat Devil in its place.

5Katana Man And Akane Appear

Episode eight is a wild one as it’s the start of the Yakuza’s revenge on the Public Safety Bureau. Katana Man surprises Denji’s group in a cafe that has Aki counterattack with his fox spirit.

Aki and Himeno put up a fight against this Devil along with his ally, Akane, while Power stays back to protect Denji who is knocked out.Himeno sacrifices her lifeto the Ghost Devil to save Aki, but unfortunately, her sacrifice was in vain. It was the first time inChainsaw Manwherein the heroes were devastated by a huge loss.

Kobeni in Chainsaw Man

4Makima And Kobeni Counterattack

Things look bleak for the heroes in episode eight, but things pick up halfway through episode nine.Makima finally revealsher powers although how they work is never explained. She starts exploding the mob’s goons from miles away with a few simple hand gestures.

Kobeni also jumps in to rescue Aki and Denji from Katana Man and Akane. Even though Kobeni was timid in the hotel, she showcased some true power in this fight. It can make fans wonder what else she might be hiding underneath that timid exterior.

3Denji And Power Vs Kishibe

With the loss of a good majority of thePublic Safety Bureau, Makima decides that Power and Denji need some extra training. She puts Kishibe in charge who absolutely devastates the two of them in the first few fights. Tired of losing, Power comes up with an idea to beat Kishibe.

It doesn’t work, but Power’s surprise tactics were surprisingly smart. Filling the pop bottles full of blood was a particularly ingenious move. Unfortunately for Power and Denji, Kishibe saw it coming from a mile away in episode ten.

2New Fiends Vs Zombies

Fans of the anime may have been wondering when some characters from the opening sequence were going to get introduced including the odd shark-looking boy. That character, Beam, along with three other Fiends is introduced in episode eleven.

Beam, Angel, Princi, and Galgali are sent in to deal with a zombie problem in the basement of Katana Man’s hideout. It’s a good battle scene that showcases the powers of these new characters for the audience as they absolutely decimate the enemy’s numbers.

1Denji Vs Katana Man Part 2

Denji’s first encounter with Man was cool, but short, ending with Denji’s defeat. In the finale of season one, the two fight it out for real. They start fighting in a building before the chaotic battle moves to the top of a train. It’s one of the best-animated fights in season one ofChainsaw Man.

Denji is the winner this time around thanks to his surprise new leg attack. Denji’s victory is even sweeter when he proceeds to kick him in the family jewels just like he did with Aki back in episode two.
