Fans must are rejoicing as a newTrigunanime has been announced by the creator, Yasuhiro Nightow, and the TOHO animation studio calledTrigun Stampede. Unfortunately, there is very little information about the new series other than it will be a CG production and a “rebirth” of the series, according tothe official website. Speculation leads fans to believe that it is a reimagining of the original series, much like the CGI version ofBerserk.
However, others assume it will be a more accurate account of theTrigun Maximummanga with new story elementssimilar toFull Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Whichever direction the newTrigunanime goes, there are plenty of characters that fans hope to make a return or first-time appearance in the new series. Here are some characters we hope to appear in the new anime.
8Millions Knives
Knives is the main antagonist of theTrigunseries and a character fans will want to see more of in the new series.Knives is Vash’s genocidal brotherthat seeks the extermination of all humanity, seeing them as a pestilence that doesn’t deserve to reproduce.

From a very young age, Knives portrayed a very detached emotional state that was brought to a head when he crashed the settler ship into the planet Gunsmoke, attempting to crush the human race’s chance at survival. There wasn’t much of Knives in the original anime until the final episode, so a new series would be an excellent opportunity to explore the character more.
7Milly Thompson
Milly is a fan favorite of the originalTrigunfor her heart of gold and sunny disposition. She is the second half of the traveling Bernardelli Insurance company agents with her teammate and best friend, Meryl Stryfe. Milly is a dedicated and loyal friend to Meryl and is most similar to Vash in her outlook on life.

However, even Milly knew when to apply a little force to protect the things she held dear. Everywhere Milly went, she would carry a massive “non-lethal” rail gun for protection as the open range is a dangerous place for two young women. Milly returning inTrigun Stampedewould put a smile on many fans' faces.
6Meryl Stryfe
Meryl Stryfe is perhaps the most fleshed-out character in Madhouse’sTrigun; she serves as a love interest and confidant to Vash throughout the show. Meryl is a very strong-willed and independent individual but has a bit of a temper when overwhelmed.
Meryl travels alongside Milly Thompson as a Bernardelli insurance agent whose task is to serve Vash for the millions of double dollars in property damage he has been responsible for all over the world. Along the way, Meryl finds that the humanoid typhoon everyone fears is just a man trying to do the right thing. Further exploring Vash and Meryl’s relationship is something fans have wanted for a long time.
5Lina
After the fifth moon incident, Vash retires to a small town where he separates himself from his weapon and trademark red coat. The weight of his actions crushing him, Lina finds Vash in horrible condition. Lina and her grandmother seemingly adopt Vash, and he becomes a part of their family, doing odd jobs for them and taking care of their land.
Lina is a brave young girl who is ahead of her time, embodying the ideals that Vash has lost touch with since the calamity in the city of July. Depending on the direction the new series goes, Lina would be a welcomed return to the series.
4Nicholas D. Wolfwood
The most requested return is most definitely Nicholas D. Wolfwood, the rival and disgruntled comrade of Vash the stampede. Trained as an assassin from a young age, Wolfwood is one of the most interesting characters in the entire story. The moral dilemmas and the existential crisis the character goes through garnered him a heap of sympathy and popularity, along with his rough exterior that hides the truly caring side he doesn’t want anyone to see.

Milly Thompson is the only character to break through Wolfwood’s defenses, and the two become emotionally involved and a belovedcouple in the anime.
3Legato Bluesummers
Knives is a colossal threat to his brother and the human race, but it is Legato who holds the crown as the most menacing in theTrigunseries. Legato Bluesummers is an underling of Knives gifted with Vash’s severed arm, granting him the power to control weak minds.
Legato uses his powers to enforce his master’s will on the world and to make Vash suffer. The suffering and fear that Legato can impose on others without lifting a finger make him one of the most anticipated returns depending on if the new series is a retelling of the show or simply a remake.
2Livio the Double Fang
Livio is another Gungho Guns member who only appears in theTrigun Maximummanga. A skilled assassin who suffers from a dissociative personality disorder, Livio was a good friend of Nicholas D. Wolfwood but becomes a henchman of Knives.Trigun Stampedeshould give this character his first anime appearance.

Livio’s alter personality is Razlo, the Tri-punisher, who was specifically created to withstand the abuse Livio suffered as a child. The dynamic of this character would be a great and unpredictable addition to the story.
1Tesla
An interesting character to appear in the newTrigunseries would be Tesla, the older sister of Vash and Knives. Tesla was the first successful independent plant birthed by Project SEED, making her very valuable and vulnerable to experimentation.
Very little is known about Tesla, her story was exploredbetter in the mangabut given a new series revival, her history could be explored along with the remaining plants that have yet to be revealed. Unfortunately, Tesla is only portrayed as a sketch mostly, appearing in the manga as the remains of her former self to Knives and Vash long after her death in containment jars.
