With everything going on in the world right now, it’s rather easy to forget that Rob Zombie is making a reboot film based on the classic sitcomThe Munsters. Well, at the very least, one would be forgiven for assuming that fact was just one of the many fever dreams they’ve suffered over the past year and a half. But it’s very real, and with each passing day, curious potential viewers get closer and closer to moving from “what the heck is this movie going to be like?” to “what the heck am I watching?”

Zombie just made possibly the biggest announcement of thePeacockfilm’s production yet, as this one finally reveals several cast members in full costume. Afterteasing various tidbits fromThe Munstersover the past few months, it seems things may finally be ready to move out of the preparation stage and into full-blown getting-stuff-done time. Fittingly, the big reveal picture is in black and white, because the eccentric director/musician/other is nothing if not committed.

Taking to Instagram, Zombie posted a nice and clear picture of 3 of the main cast members sitting in their helpfully labeled chairs in front of the admittedly picture-perfectset reproduction of the classicMunstershouse. Anyone too busy to read the caption can conveniently read the chairs themselves, which reveal that family patriarch Herman Munster will be played by Jeff Daniel Phillips, his vampire wife Lily Munster by Sheri Moon Zombie, and resident old dude Grandpa Munster by Dan Roebuck. No word yet on who’s playing the rest of this perfectly regular family from the suburbs.

Phillips is known for several of Zombie’s past productions as well as one of the cavemen from Geico’s rather popular series of commercials (and decidedly less popular attempt at a sitcom). Sheri Moon Zombie, actress, animal rights advocate, and wife of Rob Zombie, has also taken part in a number of his projects. Roebuck, meanwhile, may have arguably the most seasoned career of the 3, starring in films likeThe FugitiveandThe Late Shift. As is tradition, he’s also a long-time collaborator of Rob Zombie’s.

What’s perhaps the most striking abouttheMunstersset photoat first glance is how well each of the actors seems to fit in their respective roles, at least visually. Phillips' facial prosthetics are near flawless recreations of Herman’s look from the original 1960s series, while Sheri Moon Zombie seems to add a more modern look for Lily while still maintaining the character’s familiar ghoulish essence. Roebuck, however, seems to dip into left field a bit with some truly magnificent facial hair. Oddly enough, however, it somehow manages to capture that jolly old face of Grandpa Munster that many children in the ’60s likely found confusing coming from Dracula himself.

It’s just one more piece of progress forZombie’s ambitious passion project, but it might honestly inspire some real excitement from fans who’ve been treading water in the realm of uncertainty. The surreal filmmaker has the visual aspect down, but now it’s time to see what he’ll do with the rest of it. Still, it’s worth remembering that being normal is vastly overrated, an idea that both Zombie andThe Munstersseem to thoroughly embody.

The Munstersis expected to receive a release in theaters and onPeacock.
