Warning: The following article contains major spoilers for all endings of Cyberpunk 2077. Proceed at your own risk.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a unique story that puts players in control of their destiny through the actions they choose to take during their time in Night City. In typical CD Projekt Red fashion,Cyberpunk 2077has multiple endings players can see, giving the game a true RPG feel and warranting multiple playthroughs. However, not all of these endings are equally satisfying, and some of the easiest to achieve are also the most disappointing, meaning players will need to be very aware of the consequences of their actions if they intend to getCyberpunk 2077’s best endings.

In addition to the endings present inCyberpunk 2077’s base game, thePhantom Liberty DLCadds another potential ending to the mix. With this addition, there are now seven endings to the game for players who have the DLC, which greatly opens up the options for how their story will end. These endings range from becoming a Night City legend and going out in a blaze of glory, to recognizing V is a danger to everyone around them and ending things before more of their loved ones get hurt.

Secret Ending

Thebest ending forCyberpunk 2077is also the most difficult to get, but going through the trouble is definitely worth it. The game’s secret ending requires players to have a high affinity with Johnny leading up to the final confrontation at Arasaka Tower, in which Johnny will suggest he and V take on the mission alone if the player waits long enough when prompted to choose between calling Panam or Rogue for help. This ending can be quite difficult since players won’t have the usual backup for this mission, but the payoff is worth it since neither V nor Johnny has to die and players still get to become a Night City legend.

The Sun

Players can get The Sun ending if they choose toask Rogue for help in infiltrating Arasaka Towerduring the final mission. This ending sees V relinquish control of their body over to Johnny so that he and Rogue can take down Arasaka together once and for all, but Rogue ends up being killed by Adam Smasher during this confrontation. Although the mission is successful, having lost Rogue and learning V only has six months left to live, Johnny gives V back control of their body, allowing them to take over for Rogue at the Afterlife having become a Night City legend.

The Star

Similarly to The Sun ending, The Star is the ending players get if theychoose to call Panam for helpduring the final missions. Rather than Johnny and Rogue taking on Arasaka, this choice allows V, Panam, and the Aldecaldos to take down Arasaka together at the cost of V choosing to keep their body and losing Johnny. After the Arasaka Tower mission, Panam and V leave Night City with the Aldecaldos to live out V’s remaining time together on the open road.

The Tower

The Tower ending is the new ending added inCyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC, although it isn’t the most intuitive ending to get. This ending can occur if players choose to hand Songbird over to Reed after she confesses the truth about the cure during theKilling Moon mission, resulting in Reed agreeing to use FIA resources to have the Relic removed from V, losing Johnny, as well as many of V’s friends, in the process. Although V can no longer use cyberware after this surgery, they return to Night City hoping to start a new life, giving this ending a somewhat optimistic tone.

Players can also get this ending by siding with Reed during the Firestarter mission and then sparing Songbird during the Somewhat Damaged mission. However, keeping Songbird alive in the situation may ultimately be a fate worse than death.

The Devil

The Devil endingoccurs if the player decides to ally with Hanako and Takemura to regain control of Arasaka from Yorinobu. After helping Hanako overthrow Yorinobu and having the Relic removed, she will offer V the choice of uploading his consciousness to Mikoshi to wait until a cure is available or return to Earth to live out his final days in a Night City that has gained some semblance of stability at the cost of tighter corporate control. This ending has the potential to be somewhat ambiguous, as players who choose to upload V’s consciousness to Mikoshi are left without a resolution as to the protagonist’s ultimate fate.

Temperance

The Temperance ending can occur if the player has initiated either The Sun ending by calling Rogue to help with the Arasaka infiltration or The Star ending by calling Panam. To get the Temperance ending rather than one of the other two, players need to choose to let Johnny’s consciousness overwrite V’s, allowing Johnny to return to Night City in V’s body at the cost of losing V altogether. On the optimistic side, this ending means V is not spending their final months wasting away in Night City, and givesCyberpunk 2077’s Johnny Silverhanda chance to live the life he never got to have.

Path of Least Resistance

Theworst ending inCyberpunk 2077not only gives V a disappointing resolution but locks players out of playing through the game’s final mission. The Path of Least Resistance ending occurs when V and Johnny contemplate their actions before the final assault on Arasaka Tower, wherein V realizes their actions have caused too much suffering, and not wanting to get any more of their friends hurt, throws the omega-blocking pills off the roof and commits suicide. The game abruptly ends here without further resolution, giving players a jarring and unsatisfying end to their journey through Night City.
