The customization options available at players fingertips inDestiny 2allows them to create the guardians of their dreams, and it appears the dream of two players in particular is to live out their own Spider-Man and Green Goblin fantasy inside the game. It isn’t unusual for players to do this in any sort of game with robust character creation tools, such asElden Ring, which has become a playground for players to create their own version of fictional characters or even real-life stars likeTaylor Swift. Bungie’s looter-shooter is no different, with players regularly making use of the game’s transmog tools and assortment of ornaments to craft their perfect fit for protecting the Last City.

Destiny 2’s current season, Season of the Deep, picks up following the Season of Defiance andLightfallas players venture to the newly returned moon of Titan after receiving a distress call from Deputy Commander Sloane. The commander, who vanished with Titan alongside the launch ofBeyond Light, asks guardians to help protect a mysterious creature residing in the moon’s methane ocean which may hold vital information about The Witness' origins and its plans. However, the final living Hive god Xivu Arath is beginning to make her presence known more directly in Sol and seeks to stop the Last City from achieving its goals on the ocean moon.

A narrative such asSeason of the Deep’s calls for the aid of powerful beings to defend the leviathan creature on Titan, which prompted two players to createDestiny 2versions of Green Goblin and Spider-Man. Reddit user Keyes9056 shared an image of the looks they crafted, along with another player, using their respective Warlock and Hunter to pull it off. While the Hunter player makes use of the right combination of legendary ornaments and shaders, Keyes calls on the new Cenotaph exotic helmet to tie his Green Goblin look together and lean more into the character’s design from Sam Raimi’s 2002Spider-Manfilm.

The response from users was largely with positive, with many taking a que from Keyes' Goblin-inspired Warlock to post some of Willem Dafoe’s most famous lines from the 2002 film. Others took it a step further, re-working the dialogue to reflect what the film’s dialogue may look like if Green Goblin was a guardian. One example of this was a user posting “You know, I’m something of a Guardian myself,” which is a riff on the first timeTobey Maguire’s Peter Parkermeets Dafoe’s Norman Osborne.

Keyes and the other player’s guardians are, ultimately, two more examples of how deceptively robustDestiny 2’s customization optionsare thanks to transmog and the sheer amount of ornaments and shaders in the game at this point. Players can pull from roughly seven years of content to craft their guardian’s look, along with the ability to mix and match until they find that perfect combination for themselves. In this case, Keyes' perfect look paid tribute to two of Marvel’s most iconic characters.

Destiny 2is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
