Summary
Bungie releases update 8.0.0.5 forDestiny 2, bringing about numerous changes and fixes for pressing issues raised by the community. Over the past few months, manyDestiny 2players have found that the game has become the best it has been in quite a while. Thanks to impactful updates and content additions like Into The Light and The Final Shape expansion,Destiny 2has gotten a huge boost from players.
However, even for all of the positivity and popularity, it hasn’t been a flawless experience. Live service games are always changing, which opens the door for issues to arise, something whichDestiny 2has not been immune to over the years. In fact, The Final Shape has seen a few problems appear, including one whichpreventedDestiny 2players from being able to unlock the returning exotic auto rifle, Khvostov 7G-0X. Bungie continues to address these issues with fixes and the latest update forDestiny 2continues that streak with improvements to a number of pain points.
For many players, one of the biggest changes this update brings is with the Pathfinder system, a replacement for daily and weekly bounties.Destiny 2players have been criticizing the Ritual Pathfindersince it launched with The Final Shape, with the nodes being mixed and forcing players to occasionally switch activities to progress. Switching activities removes streak bonuses and, for some players, the objectives can be extremely tedious or overly difficult. With this update, Bungie has tweaked the system slighty, fixing issues with it and replacing Gambit specific nodes with more general ones, giving players a path that can be completed through PvE or PvP-only activities.
The other major piece to Update 8.0.0.5 is theremoval of elemental surges toDestiny 2Dungeons and Raids. With the launch of The FInal Shape, Bungie made substantial changes to how difficulty works along with player power. Ultimately, these changes also impacted dungeons and raids, with many players noting that these experiences feel worse than before, with some encounters becoming downright tedious to overcome. Bungie recently revealed hard data for these encounters, ultimately confirming that elemental surges would be removed entirely and that Destiny 2 players would be getting a damage bonus by default to all subclass types.
Many fans will also likely be disappointed by the news that Bungie has fixed apopular glitch in the Dual Destiny exoticDestiny 2mission, which could be exploited to earn double class items. Following this update, fans will have to settle for getting the one item per completion or continue farming chests within the Pale Heart to earn additional drops.
