Summary
Bungie’s latestDestiny 2trailer reveals the new modes, gear, and rewards that players can experience when Festival of the Lost arrives on October 17. The Halloween inspired event original began as a limited time seasonal activity forDestinyin 2015 with players collecting candy from vendors, collecting masks representing various NPCs, and earning loot from Mystery Bags, Consumables, and of course, premium Eververse store items. Since then, the event has continued to evolve, becoming a much bigger activity inDestiny 2through adding more content, rewards, andactivities like Haunted Lost Sectors.
In fact, the same can be said for this year’s version of Festival of the Lost, which continues to expand upon the seasonal event. Bungie recently outlined a number of these changes including a Legendary version of Haunted Lost Sectors, giving players the ability to earn more rewards for overcoming a greater challenge. In addition, theFestival of the Lost event features a rare Memento dropalong with using a new resource called Eerie Engrams which can either instantly reward players with gear or can be used to focus them at Eva Levante for some legendary weapons or exotic gear.
WhileFestival of the Lost is slated to begin later today after theDestiny 2reset, Bungie released a new trailer showcasing the seasonal activity as well as some of the gear that can be earned. As players learned earlier this year, the themed armor set for Festival of the Lost is called Creepy Crawlies, which was voted on by the community, turning the three classes into various forms of beetles and spiders. Naturally, cosmetics are going to be a big part of the 3-week event and the trailer goes to great length to show some of them off including emotes and a few of the new masks for this year including one of the raid boss Rhulk.
TheDestiny 2trailer also shows off the Legendary Lost Sector activities where masked players can earn candy by defeating enemies and have a chance at more rewards, including Eerie Engrams, for beating them. While last year’s Mechabre Sniper Rifle returns alongside the Jurassic Green Pulse Rifle and Horror Story Auto Rifle, this year’s newest weapon is a heavy grenade launcher called Acosmic which seems to almost have a black hole void explosion effect once the grenades detonate.
Exotic gear is also a big highlight for players during this year’sFestival of the Lost inDestiny 2. The Eerie Engrams will be more valuable than ever thanks to the ability to focus them into exotic armor ranging from the first years of Destiny 2 all the way to the Witch Queen expansion. Bungie has also made it, so players can focus these engrams into exotic gear that even hasn’t been collected yet, giving players another way to obtain newer exotic armor without having to grind Legendary or Master Lost Sectors.
Destiny 2is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
