Bungie’s flagship game-as-a-service,Destiny 2, has always hosted a number of special annual events for players to participate in. While the nature and intent of these events has certainly changed over the years, one of the main reasons why players participate in them in the first place has mostly stayed the same: the opportunity to unlock some of the wildest and flashiest armor sets the game has to offer.

It’s not a big surprise, then, to see thatDestiny 2’s reworked Solstice 2022 event has got its own set of glowy armor pieces for players to pursue. Featuring possibly the wildest selection of bright bits and bobs Bungie has attached to an armor set up until now, anyone who wants to participate in the celebration of 2022’s Solstice event can not only unlock, but also upgrade this all-new set of gear.

WhileDestiny 2’s new Solstice event rewardsdid get shown off as part of Bungie’s previous TWAB blog post, the armor sets themselves only come into their own when witnessed in motion. Much as was the case with the previous couple ofSolsticeevents, players can complete the annual event progression questline to earn a full set of customized armor pieces with a white glow, as well as spend Silver or Bright Dust to purchase a set of matching ornaments whose glow depends on your Guardian’s selected subclass.

SinceDestiny 2’s event model is changingover the next couple of seasons, it only makes sense that the way players unlock Solstice armor changes accordingly. To that end, getting the baseline version of the new armor without any glow is easy: players merely need to visit Eva in the Tower courtyard to claim it. Once that’s done, the Solstice questline will kick off and teach them how to participate in Solstice and - more importantly - use the new event resource to meticulously upgrade the Solstice armor’s stats over the next couple of weeks.

This means that Solstice 2022 provides players with a potential alternative tofarmingDestiny 2Duality for Artifice armor. Quite simply, players now don’t need to rely on pure RNG to farm their desired stat rolls, and it’s entirely possible to build a very competitive set of endgame-tier gear using the new Solstice mechanics. At the same time, it’s also worth pointing out that Solstice armor won’t have access to the additional mod slot that Artifice armor pieces have, which may matter a great deal to some players.

Amidst this year’s Solstice celebrations, it’s worth pointing out thatBungie has addressedDestiny 2harassment issuesthat have recently popped up, too.

Destiny 2is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
