Another week and another Bungie update revealing even more upcoming news regarding Season 13. Not only is the new trailer coming next Tuesday, but season 13 is also introducing a number of major changes toDestiny 2. In a surprising announcement, Bungie revealed thatDestiny 2is ditching weekly bounties, a staple of the game since it launched back in 2017. In their place will be a new seasonal challenge system, giving players something new to chase every week from the Quest Log and last through 10 weeks instead of expiring in 7 days. The added flexibility resembles what other live service games likeFortnitehave moved over to, letting players check in at their own pace.

From a gameplay perspective, Europa is finally getting a new landing zone to hopefully alleviate a lot of the running players need to do from the default Charon’s Crossing location. Weapon changes were also discussed and unfortunately for sword users, Bungie is hitting them with the nerfbat. With how popular they are in PvE combat,Bungie is lowering all sword power by 15%. However, the currently underpowered rocket launchers are getting a 30% boost, with exotics getting adjusted individually.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players will need to climb the massive tree on Nessus.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Once loaded in, run forward until the zone opens up. Continue to the back of the zone where a massive tree can be seen. Climb up and Xur will be standing on a large branch.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

While Xur’s role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary toacquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Getaway Artist - Warlock gauntlets

Introducedduring the Season of the Drifter, the Getaway Artist gauntlets are focused on Stormcaller Warlocks. Dynamic Duo converts the arc grenade into a supercharged Arc Soul. Better yet, the Arc Soul then functions as an autonomous turret.

While this isn’t a top tier Warlock exotic that will likely replace anything in the current meta, the appealing aspect to these gloves are the stat rolls for this week. RWhile Discipline, Intellect, and Strength are surprisingly even, it has a very high Resilience stat. While not the best exotic gear, there are definitely worse options.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Shinobu’s Vow - Huntergauntlets

Nearly a year later, Shinobu’s Vow is back in stock for hunters. New Tricks is the Intrinsic Perk on this armor, essentially givingArcstriders an extra skip grenade(as long as that is selected as the grenade type). In addition, any damage done to enemies will return a bit of grenade energy.

Having an extra grenade is always a good thing regardless of the activity, though this one has very specific requirements and likely won’t impact all Hunters. This can be a powerful tool for Arcstriders who have Skip grenades equipped, though they’d have to opt not to use the Raiden Flux exotic, which increases the damage and duration of the Arcstrider super. Whether that trade off is worth it is up to the player. There are certainly better options out there, but if used correctly, this item can ensure that skip grenade players always have something to throw. Plus, the +18 in recovery is pretty solid.

Armamentarium - Titan chest armor

The Armamentarium is back on sale this weekend after an extended time out of the spotlight. Its exotic perk And Another Thing gives players one additional grenade charge. Unlike other exotics, this armor is easy to pair with any subclass, though it does shine brighter with specific ones.

A popular tactic with this item is to run suppressor grenades which will grant players double the power to take supers away from their enemies. It may not be exciting or flashy compared so some of the other exotics in the game, but it remains easy to recommend considering how valuable two grenades can be in most situations. Plus, the total stat roll for this week is incredibly high so it may be worth picking up to replace collection rolls.

Exotic Weapon

This week, the pulse rifle known as Graviton Lance is in stock. Black Hole is its exotic perk which gives the second shot of a burst high damage and recoil with no falloff. It synergizes with the Cosmology perk as any kills made with the gun cause enemies to detonate and spawn Void projectiles that track other targets.

Pulse rifles remain a very strong weapon class inDestiny 2, so this is already a solid weapon. While effective in PvP, this gun really shines when up against multiple enemies for its ability to cause AoE damage.
