Blizzard’sDiablo 4team recently discussed details about the game’s highly-anticipated battle pass, including how much it will cost. While players still have six months to wait before the release ofDiablo 4, they now know what to expect from the battle pass and how long they will have to unlock everything.
Battle passes are a staple in recent live service games. For a fixed fee, they allow players to unlock a variety of rewards by completing challenges and earning experience points. These rewards range from cosmetic items to emotes and other in-game items, with little to no impact on the overall gameplay and user experience. WhileDiablo 3didn’t include this feature, the controversial mobile gameDiablo Immortalintroduced a battle passwith two paid upgrade versions.

A few days afterunveiling the release date ofDiablo 4, Blizzard revealed more information about its battle pass. During a recent live stream, community lead Adam Fletcher announced thatDiablo 4’s battle pass will cost $10. Players will have about three months to unlock everything this battle pass offers, which will be the length of eachDiablo 4season.
Diablo 4will feature two battle passes: a free one for all players and a paying option with more rewards to unlock. By completing everyday challenges like killing monsters and completing quests, players will be able to unlock battle pass rewards tiers and access new in-game elements. While Blizzard shared the price of the firstbattle pass forDiablo 4, the company hasn’t yet revealed if players will be able to use in-game currency to purchase further versions of the battle pass, an option other games offer.
In addition to this new battle pass feature,Diablo 4brings many changes to the series. For the first time in the franchise’s history,Diablo 4will feature a semi-open world, with large zones to explore that are not restricted by the narrative progression of players. The fourth main installment in theDiabloseries will also introduce mounts to explore the world more freely.
Besides running around and killing monsters, players will witness the battle between Inarius and Lilith in the eternal conflict opposing the High Heavens and the Burning Hells.Diablo 4offers a large range of activities for players, from procedurally generated dungeons to world bosses and player vs. player combat. To perform these activities, players can choose from the five playableclasses available uponDiablo 4’s launch: Barbarian, Sorceress, Druid, Rogue, and Necromancer. While these classes already appeared in previous entries in the series, seeing how they perform against each other and evolve in the world will be a new experience forDiabloenthusiasts.
