Diablo Immortalhas released a new update that brings a fishing minigame to the world of Sanctuary, including a catalog of catchable fish of various rarities. Besides the new leisure activity,Diablo Immortalhas also added a handy calendar to help players track activities and events, 36 new legendary items to loot, and a healthy dose of other changes and improvements.
The long-awaited latest addition to Blizzard’s action RPG series has been the subject of much discussion since it was released, particularly in regard to its cash shop system, asDiablo Immortalplayers spent tens of thousandsof dollars trying to acquire a single 5-star legendary gem. While these items aren’t necessary to enjoy the free-to-play mobile game, it’s still an incredible amount of money to spend on video game loot. Regardless,Diablo Immortal has been an overall success, taking home the Best Mobile RPG award from the Pocket Gamer Awards and receiving nominations from Google Play, Apple Store Awards, The Game Awards, and the D.I.C.E. Awards.

Although slightly unexpected for such a visceral and brutal action RPG,Diablo Immortalwill be joining othergames with fishing mechanicsthanks to its latest content update. Once players reach level 43, they can head over to the noxious Bilefen marshes to begin The Greatest Pastime quest which will lead to acquiring a fishing rod. Players can fish in Ashwold Cemetary, BIlefen, and the Frozen Tundra wherever the fishing spot marker appears on the map, and they’ll be safe from monsters while fishing.Click here to read the patch notes.
Fishing requires bait, and players can purchase an unlimited supply from the Fisher though they can only carry 99 bait at a time. There are currently 40 fish to catch across five rarities, and the Angler’s Log will track these catches along with records like Personal Record Weight and Server Record Weight. The log also provides handy information such as the fish’s preferred habitats. The developers have noted that fishing is a first step toward more “combat-less gameplay with social touches,” meaning it’s likely thatDiablo Immortalwill be adding similar activities in the future, perhaps a cooking minigame to go with the recently announcedDiabloCookbook.
The update has also brought 36 new additions toDiablo Immortal’s legendary lootpool available at Hell Difficulty 8. Last but not least, a new Activity Scheduler and Calendar have made it far easier to keep track of the game’s timed activities and events, which comes just in time for the new Hungering Moon Limited-Time Event that will run from March 2 to March 6.
