Bulla is a character in theDragon Ballseries that isn’t talked about a lot, despite how close she is to the main cast. For one, she’s the daughter of Vegeta and Bulma, two of the most prominent characters in the series.

Two, she’s part of the cast inDragon Ball GTthat appears all the time and has since started appearing (as a baby) inDragon Ball Super. And three, there’s a lot more to her than just being a Bulma lookalike, so let’s talk about some sidesto this strong female characterthat people aren’t aware of.
8She Is Capable Of Going Super Saiyan
First and foremost, it might seem obvious, but people often forget that Bulla is half-Saiyan. Just because she doesn’t fight much at all inDragon Ball GT(and especially in Super) and isn’t big on training, doesn’t mean she’s not a part of this elite clan offighting fanatics with absurd hairstyles.
If Trunks and Goten, two other half-Saiyans, are able to go Super Saiyan then Bulla is absolutely able to as well. And, who knows, she may be a natural when it comes to this once-mythicalbut now oversaturated transformationjust like Trunks and Goten were.
7The God Of Destruction Is Her Very Own Personal Babysitter
During the events ofDragon Ball Super: Broly, the gang needs to go to the Ice Continent in order to stop Freiza from getting the last Dragon Ball which includes Goku, Vegeta, and Bulma. But, Bulma has Bulla now and can’t exactly take a baby with her to someplace so cold. Thankfully, Beerus wants to stay behind on the island they were already at any way to nap, so Bulma leaves Bulla with him.
Now, since his first appearance, Beerus has become a lot more casual with all the characters on Earth. He seems to respect Bulma and feels camaraderie with Goku and Vegeta. But somehow, Bulla seems to be the onethis all-powerful God of Destructionhas a weak spot for as it’s shown later in the movie that she’s climbing all over him and pulling on his clothes and yet Beerus doesn’t seem to mind.
6She Has Vegeta Wrapped Around Her Finger
Now there’s a lot of debate as to whether the events that transpire inDragon Ball GTare canon or not, given that Toriyama didn’t directly work on it andSupertakes place around whereGTfirst starts. Regardless,GTgives fans a peak into what the kid characters will be like when they’re older such as Goten, Trunks, Pan, Marron, and Bulla.

And Bulla as a teen is quite the handful. She’s a lot like her mother in many ways, and the most obvious aspect is the fact that she also has Vegeta wrapped around her finger. This Saiyan Prince father will do absolutely anything for his little girl and that even includes getting rid of one of his best looks of all time, Mustached Vegeta, just because she told him it looks bad.
5Bulla Wasn’t “Born” Like Other Kids Were
It’s funny how often theDragon Ballcharacters seem to be able to just entirely ignore certain parts of life. Death, for one, is of such minor inconvenience to them thanks to the Dragon Balls. Two, they don’t need to worry about buying cars or traffic because they can fly. And three, Bulma even gets to side-step the painful process of giving birth just so Vegeta can go train.
Essentially, while Bulma is in the very last stages of her pregnancy with Bulla, Goku asks Vegeta if he wants to go train with Beerus for the Tournament of Power (which a surprise character actually wins). Vegeta, the actually great husband that he is, turns it down because he needs to stay by Bulma’s side while she gives birth. Honestly, Vegeta’s character growth from villain to hero is an all-time anime fan favorite, and it was so well-earned too with little momentslike his speech to Goku about Friezaor his sacrifice against Innocent Buu.
In any case, Whis, who’s a bit frustrated by this little hiccup in their plans, then uses his powers to literally teleport Bulla out from inside her mother’s stomach and hands her to Bulma. It’s such a quick thing that circumvents a painful process and Bulma herself even makes a joke right after that she’ll need to remember to call Whis next time she’s pregnant.
4She’s Shown To Have To Ability To Fly, Use Ki, & Fight In General
It’s already been mentioned that Bulla is half-Saiyan and is, therefore, able to do anything pureblood Saiyans can do (and even more in some circumstances). But again, since she never gets into any real fights, fans didn’t know if she knew how to fly or use ki.
Then, during the Baby Saga ofDragon Ball GT, both Trunks and Bulla are infected with Tuffle Parasites and become subservient to Baby. During this period, Bulla is seen flying with Trunks, firing Ki blasts, and even giving her own Ki to help create Super Baby Vegeta. Baby is one of the more interesting villains throughout the franchise, and is actually someone fans are expecting to come backin something likeDragon Ball: The Breakers.
3She’s Used Both Vegeta & Pan’s Special Moves
Not only is Bulla able to fly, fire ki blasts, turn super Saiyan (hopefully), and more, but she’s also capable of using the trademark attacks of her friends and family.

Of course, since this is only ever seen in non-canon games such asDragon Ball FusionsandDragon Ball Dokkan Battle, it’s not entirely confirmed. But, in these games, Bulla is seen using her father’s iconic Galick Gun as well as Pan’s Maiden Blast.
2Her Name Still Follows The Brief Family Naming Convention
Akira Toriyama is obviously a fan of funny naming conventions, as most characters inDragon Ballfollow some sort of naming theme. To give a few examples:
And Bulma’s family actually also follows one of these naming themes as all of them are named after some type of undergarment. There’s Dr. Brief, his wife Bikini, their two daughters Bulma (another name for bloomers) and Tights, Bulma’s son Trunks, and finally Bulla whose original name is Bra. This name was changed from Bra to Bulla in the western release ofSuper, but it’s still absolutely her canonical name.
1Vegeta Liked The Name He Came Up With A Whole Escha-Lot
And finally, to end things on another aspect of Bulla’s name, there was actually another potential name in the running. Vegeta spent a lot of time thinking about what strong name he could give his daughter. He considered the conventions of how Saiyans were named and went from there, eventually ending up on the named Eschalot (a pun on the “shallot” vegetable).
Then, when Bulma is asked about whether they have a name for their new child yet, Vegeta quickly speaks up to bring up his idea. But, Bulma manages to interrupt him and show off the baby’s birth certificate, showing that she’s already named their child Bulla, much to Vegeta’s dismay.
