When asked which dragon fight inElden Ringwas the best, most players will either mention Lichdragon Fortissax or Dragonlord Placidusax. Reddit user TheVilebloods was particularly fond of the former, so much so that theElden Ringplayer made a painting based on the encounter.

Finding the Lichdragon Fortissax boss battle takes some work, as players need to reachDeeproot Depths- something that is easier said than done since two Valiant Gargoyles guide the entrance to the location. Once there, players need to reach the Prince of Death’s Throne and clear out Fia’s Champions. After progressing Fia’s questline enough, she will move to this area, and players can give her the Cursemark of Death to cap off the quest line. After talking to her three times and entering the Deathbed Dream, the fight will finally begin.

What makesLichdragon Fortissaxstand out is his lightning abilities, as the beast will constantly spawn red lightning on its sides to make it hard for the player to land hits without being damaged. Its most memorable move sees it crafting two large electric bidents, lifting them in the air before landing an attack. This visual is unforgettable, making it the perfect focus for TheVilebloods’ Fortissax digital painting.

Instead of going for something photorealistic, or replicating one of theElden Ringtapestry paintingsthat have been shared, TheVilebloods’ piece has its own unique style. Taking a somewhat minimalistic approach, the piece is full of color, with the Lichdragon floating into the sky with its two bidents in-hand. Its wings can be seen clearly, as can its neck, with plenty of red used to make it look like lightning is being utilized. The Redditor said that their goal was to capture the “feel” of this well-hidden encounter, and they certainly accomplished that.

While the Lichdragon may be the focus of the piece, it is not the only thing worth appreciating. The player makes sure to include a dual-wieldingTarnishedthat is staring down the boss, and the small size of the player character is a great way to reflect the enormity of Fortissax. The glowing water is another nice touch, while the dead foliage in the corners of the piece and the water itself helps to reflect the decaying scenery in Deeproot Depths. Unsurprisingly, other gamers loved this piece, with all the comments either praising the art or joking about how they have seen too many dual katana builds.

With so many standout bosses scattered throughoutthe Lands Between, the artistic members of theElden Ringcommunity have no shortage of memorable moments to recreate. This tribute to Lichdragon Fortissax is particularly stellar, though, as TheVilebloods' distinct style makes it stand out from other fan art.
