Summary
One unluckyElden Ringplayer recently attempted to kill a lowly dung beetle, only to be met with an unexpected and disastrous end. FromSoftware’s latest fantasy RPG epic was one ofthe biggest games of 2022, and gamers are still diving into the open world of the Lands Between a year later. The baseElden Ringalready has plenty of content and replay value to keep fans coming back for more, and rumor has it that the highly-anticipatedShadow of the ErdtreeDLC could finally launch next February.
In the meantime, players have been sharing their experiences inElden Ring, as the game’s open-world format and FromSoftware’s trademark difficulty mean that any battle could lead to a painful end for a Tarnished looking to become the next Elden Lord.Elden Ringis already home to several powerful bosseslike Malenia, Blade of Miquella, and Maliketh, the Black Blade, but it is just as common to die at the hands of a more mundane foe like a Draconic Tree Sentinel or Cleanrot Knight.
Even a lowly dung beetle can prove to be a deadly adversary inElden Ring, as Reddit user CivBinky recently discovered in a truly humiliating fashion. In a video clip posted to r/EldenRing, they are shown attacking a dung beetle with sweeping claymore strikes atop a massive castle wall. This turns out to be a less-than-ideal location, as the dung beetle suddenly expands its load - pushing CivBinky’sElden Ringavatar off the edge and into the abyss below. Other users in the comment section have playfully ribbed CivBinky for their blunder, with one even joking that they have forfeited the right to use their greatsword after displaying such carelessness.
Plenty ofElden Ringplayers have met an untimely demise through some sort of error, be it an impressive dodge gone wrong or afailed attempt to cheese a Draconic Tree Sentinel. OneElden Ringfan even reported that their controller’s battery expired in the middle of a late-game area, leaving them completely vulnerable to a charging ram. Players can even kill each other by literally scaring a co-op partner to death, and even when it seems that a Tarnished finds a good hiding place from a menacing boss they can still meet a brutal end.
No one is trulysafe in the world ofElden Ring, and CivBinky’s recent mishap proves that even something as seemingly harmless as a simple dung beetle can spell doom to an unsuspecting Tarnished. Watching other players try to defeat enemies inElden Ringis almost as fun as playing the game, and with theShadow of the ErdtreeDLC still on the horizon, there will be plenty of opportunities for memorableElden Ringmoments even a year after FromSoftware’s hit took the gaming world by storm.
Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
