Elden Ringis plenty difficult, but like other FromSoftware games, it’s known for being tough, but fair. While players may struggle to get through certain portions of the game, deaths are avoidable if players are skilled enough and take the time to learn how to fight their enemies. However, there are bugs that make enemies unintentionally difficult, like the one thatmadeElden Ringdogs absurdly powerful. Now a new glitch is plaguing the game, and it makes one of the toughest boss fights even harder.

Malenia is such a difficult boss, in fact, that oneElden Ringplayer has become famous for helping people kill her in co-op. The Malenia boss fight was hard enough as it was, but the latest update has caused an issue that makes it even more difficult for players to win.

FromSoftware recently releasedElden Ringupdate 1.04, and it came with an intentional buff for Malenia that basically nullified a common cheese strategy that players were using to beat her. However, it also caused an unintentional buff that is making the fight more difficult when players summon in co-op partners.
One of Malenia’s gimmicks that makes her such a challenging boss fight is she heals after each hit. This means players not only have to make sure they’re landing their blows on her, but they also have to do everything they can to avoid being hit, or else it will prolong the battle in a way that doesn’t happen with other boss fights in the game. However, after update 1.04, it seems that Malenia is now healing even when shedoesn’thitElden Ringplayers.
This has been illustrated by multiple clips online, including one uploaded by the famousLet Me Solo Her playerwho has made it their mission to help players defeat the ultra-challenging boss. Basically, the bug makes it so Malenia is being healed even when she misses her strikes on co-op summons. The theory is this has something to do with online connectivity issues. Some players reported experiencing it on occasion before update 1.04, but it does seem to be more prevalent now.
It’s likely that FromSoftware will eventually issue an update to fix this Malenia boss fight bug, but no timetable for such an update has been announced at the time of this writing.Elden Ringupdateshave been coming at a steady pace since the game’s launch, though, so it’s unlikely fans will have to wait too much longer for a fix.
