These two games only share one commonality, asKilling Floor 2is a brutal zombie shooter andAncient Enemyis a Solitaire-like card battler. They are both set at the fall/after the fall of civilization though, adding a nice desperate (if uniquely so) tone to the overarching titles. They will be free until July 14 at 10 am CT, when they will then be replaced byWonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trapand a new game pack forIdle Champions of the Forgotten Realm.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trapwill be free from July 14-21, and it’s the first solo game to appear on the store for a little while now. It’s possibleEpic Games Storeadds a surprise game to the lineup, as it did that too not long ago, but there’s not much precedent for it. Still,Wonder Boycould scratch many Epic Games Store users’ backs.
Wonder Boyis described as a non-stop action-adventure platform, featuring a main character who has been cursed by the Meka-Dragon. This lonesome and cursed adventure must explore Monster Land, facing off with lesser dragons, traps, and more, all while dealing with the curse.Wonder Boy’s curse will see them turned into a lizard, a mouse, a piranha, a lion, and more in a zany, yet grounded and hopeful adventure.
Wonder Boyhas generally favorable reviews and is a sometimes-rare case of a Metascore and a User Score lining up perfectly. It has a 79 Metascore based on 19 critic reviews, and a 7.9 user score based on 167 user reviews. Of course, all reviews are subjective, but this speaks to the quality of its addition. It’s definitely worth checking out, even for those who occasionally pick something up on Epic Games Store.
Furthermore, those who claim and sign intoIdle Champions of theForgotten Realmwill get a new game pack called Gladiators of the Black Pit. It adds an item value of $100 to the game by unlocking Baeloth and other powerful champions.
As always, there are plenty of places where gamers can pick up a few extra games as part of a service or subscription. Xbox Game Pass added three new games, for example, and thePS Plus Essential free games for July 2022are also available now. These services go a long way during “dry seasons,” which is what the industry is currently in. When fall hits though and 2023 rolls around, it could be a completely different story.
