They’re all suitable for one thing or another, and players truly cancomplete the game with any ship they choose.

scout

There are three sizes of ships inEverspace 2:Light,Medium, andHeavy. Each size has three options, and all have specific abilities that further differentiate them. Selecting the “best” ship for each size comes down to deciding which is the most useful in the greatest number of situations, and that’s what this guide intends to do.

The Best Light Ship in Everspace 2

The Scout is the best Light ship inEverspace 2.Its superiority owes to the fact that it can destroy nearly any target at range before the target has a chance to respond. While the Stinger and Vanguard are both impressive ships in their own right, the Scout’s increased range, increased damage at range, and Shadow Strike ULT come together to create an incredibly powerful package.

Players seeking to maximize the capabilities of the Scout should get their hands on a Rail Gun. Its 3.5km range increases to just over 4.5km when used by the Scout and can be increased further with the “Marksman” catalyst. The Rail Gun already does impressive Kinetic and Energy damage, but the Scout’s ability to deal 4% increased damage per 100m adds a whopping 140% damage at just 3.5km.

interceptor

The Scout gets into trouble in scripted engagements that drop the player in the middle of a swarm of foes. However, activating Shadow Strike and using an Energized Boost to get back out to range enables players to escape the chaos and return tosniping their targets with impunity.

The Best Medium Ship in Everspace 2

The Interceptor is the best Medium ship inEverspace 2.The Power Converter ability sets it apart from the Striker and Sentinel. The ability converts boost energy into weapon energy. This gives players extra up-time with their best weapons, oftena key component to staying in the fight. The Weapon Overdrive ULT also provides the ship with a considerable boost to combat effectiveness that can be extended with successful kills. This makes the Interceptor a powerhouse in any protracted battle.

The Interceptor can equip more weapons than the Striker or Sentinel, and it also has better defensive stats. It can hang in the fight longer than the Sentinel or Striker, especially at medium range. While it isn’t as fast as the Striker, it still makes a good choice for completing races.

The Best Heavy Ship in Everspace 2

The Vindicator is the best Heavy ship inEverspace 2.All three Heavy ships are mighty for their own reasons, but the Vindicator’s Reanimator ability provides a few unique advantages that barely edges out its competition. The Bomber and Gunship are also excellent choices, so players can’t go wrong with any Heavy Ship.

The Vindicator’s Reanimator ability allows players to construct up to five combat drones tosupport them in battle. These drones persist through jumps, so it isn’t necessary to rebuild them every time the player enters a new area. On top of that, if they don’t have all their drones active, they get a modest boost to their shield power.

The drones take some maintenance to keep up, but they’re worth the trouble. They draw fire and deal an impressive amount of damage. The biggest drawback is that the wreckages players need to use to create drones add about 50% more markers to the screen at any given time, which can be distracting.

Everspace 2is out now for PC, with an Xbox One and PS5 version coming in the summer of 2023.
