AFallout 4player who fought a Super Mutant ended up having a weird experience when its head didn’t fully explode on death. The moment is an odd one, even amid everything that goes on inFallout 4’s wasteland.
Anyone who has spent time inFallout 4knows that it can be a very gory game at times. Seeing limbs fly off in a fire fight is commonplace, and heads exploding isn’t uncommon, either. Between VATS and kill cams, most players get to see these moments close-up in a spectacle of guts and gore. However, in this particular instance, the kill animation didn’t play out properly, and a Super Mutant got stuck with its head partially exploded.
Fallout 4player EnbyArchen shared a screenshot of their odd moment with fellow fans, who seem both startled and amused at the scene. In the screenshot, a Super Mutant stands in front of the player, apparently dead. However, the critical strike the player apparently landed on the Super Mutant’s head hasn’t played out properly, and theSuper Mutanthas its skull and face partially exploded, with its eyes bulging out of their sockets. According to the player, the Super Mutant’s body ended up just standing still in place after the fight.
Other players seem to be rather amused by this sight, considering thatSuper Mutants can pose a pretty significant threatto the player, and this one just looks silly. Several made comparisons to the classic filmWho Framed Roger Rabbit, as its antagonist Judge Doom has his eyes bulging out of his skull in a similar manner during part of the film. Others joked that the Super Mutant looked as though it just remembered that it left the oven on at home, or that this is what happens when a Super Mutant tries to hold in a sneeze.
Fallout Glitches are Nothing New
Bethesda games are praised for a lot of reasons, but most fans of the developer know thatthe Creation Engine is prone to odd moments, too. Physics glitches, ragdolling, and all other kinds of odd moments like these can transpire in the game engine. Bethesda’s most recent release,Starfield, upgraded from Creation Engine to Creation Engine 2, though it seems that the new version still has its own issues. However, most open world games have some odd moments, especially tied to NPC deaths and physics. While it might briefly break the realism of the game, as long as it remains a visual glitch that doesn’t interfere with progress, most players seem to be amused and tolerant of the bugs.
