One fan has recently stumbled on an incredibly rare version ofGrand Theft Auto 5that features a unique cover as a result of a misprint. They promptly went online to share their discovery, having done so shortly after onerumoredGTA 6actor began trolling fanson social media.
Product misprints are routinely responsible for some of the most eye-watering prices that can be encountered in the world of second-hand collectibles. This was recently demonstrated by Reddit user damcanadian, who discovered an incredibly rare version ofGrand Theft Auto 5for the PS4 with a curiously flawed cover. Instead of having the standard cover artwork with a PS4 logo at the top, their copy of the game features a seemingly miscut sheet whose intended top ended up near the middle of the box.
The original poster did not clarify where exactly have they stumbled upon this unique version ofGrand Theft Auto 5. That notwithstanding, their username and the game’s lack of a holographic PS4 strip—used as a guarantee of a factory-sealed item in some markets—suggest that this copy of the hit title came from Canada. Irrespective of its origin, the misprinted box easily trumps even therarestGrand Theft Auto 5encounters, in terms of how uncommon it is.
After the image of this curiosity went viral on Reddit earlier today, many fans urged its presumed owner not to unseal the box, arguing that it’s bound to appreciate in value over time. Be that as it may, seeing how Rockstar has yet to even unveil the follow-up to its hit 2013 game, let alone release it, the owner of this rare version ofGrand Theft Auto 5probably shouldn’t hold their breath for the game to turn into a vintage collector’s item.
As for the next installment in the franchise,GTA 6is currently expected to launch in 2024, at the earliest. More specifically, Take-Two Interactive recently forecast a massive revenue uptick for its fiscal year ending Jun 04, 2025, leading many to speculate that theGrand Theft Auto 6release windowwill fall somewhere in the preceding 12 months. Between that and the fact that all 3D games in the franchise debuted in the final quarters of their respective launch years, a Q4 2024 release currently seems like the most realistic scenario forGrand Theft Auto 6.
Grand Theft Auto 5is available on PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
