When it comes to thePlayStation 5, Sony has been taking a slow burn approach to its reveal, meaning there’s still a lot about the next-generation console that’s shrouded in mystery. This includes its user interface, which has yet to be revealed to the public. However, one PS5 fan has created their own design for a PlayStation 5 UI, and its rather sleek presentation will make PS5 owners wish the real deal is pretty similar.
This PS5 UI concept is somewhat similar to the PS4 UI, but with some notable improvements. Visually, it looks a lot smoother than the PS4 UI, and it offers much more information. For example, each game title displays the amount of time played, as well as the player’s progress when it comes to unlocking that game’sPlatinum Trophy. Players are also able to organize their games in folders in this PS5 UI concept, and separate games from other media that they have downloaded on their console.

It’s unclear exactly when Sony will be unveiling the PS5 UI, but PS4 dashboard has been fairly divisive, so hopefully whatever the PS5 delivers is an improvement. A reveal likely won’t happen until Sony actually shows off thePS5 console designitself, but with the console set to launch later this holiday season, one has to imagine that will happen within the next few months or so.
While the PS5 UI remains a mystery, fans do have a general idea of what the Xbox Series X dashboard will look like. Reports have indicated that theXbox Series X will actually retain the Xbox One dashboard at launch, as people reportedly complained about losing the Xbox 360 dashboard in the transition to the Xbox One. This would be a very user-friendly move, but some people may prefer to see something new when they boot up their next-generation console.
However, this highlights the key differences between Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation strategies. Microsoft plans on releasing cross-gen games for Xbox Series X and Xbox One at launch instead of giving its new console true exclusives. Sony, meanwhile, plans to have a number ofPS5 launch titlesthat gamers will only be able to play by picking up the new console.
Microsoft’s goal is clearly unity across its various gaming platforms, butSonyis looking to entice players with exclusive games. It remains to be seen which strategy will pay off, but we’ll have a better idea once the next-generation consoles launch later this year.
