Summary
Over the last few years, pop-culture crossovers have started to become a staple of the video game industry. In a world where the MCU has taught audiences to expect plenty of franchise synergy, fans now expect a certain number of cameos appearances in their games, whether it’s from legacy franchise characters, or cameos from across the entertainment industry, and over the last few years,Mortal Kombathas done both. Though it tends to keep them well away from the canon story, the last fewMortal Kombatentrieshave added a slew of guest characters, andMortal Kombat 1will be no different.
Out of the 23 fighters currently announced forMortal Kombat 1, a total of six of those are DLC characters, and three of those DLC fighters are crossover characters, all coming from the comic book industry. The Boys' psychopathic evil-Superman Homelander,Invincible’s own version of evil-Superman Omni-Man, and DC’s tragic but abrasive anti-hero Peacemaker are all coming toMortal Kombat 1via its first Kombat Pack DLC. Being bloodthirsty and incredibly violent, these characters fitMortal Kombatperfectly already, and of the three, Peacemaker could end up having the most flashy Fatalities.

Mortal Kombat 1: Peacemaker’s No-Look Fatality
Though he might be better known for his own self-titled show, John Cena’s Peacemaker made his debut inJames Gunn’sThe Suicide Squadback in 2021. Another, and much better go at the infamous Task Force X, James Gunn’sThe Suicide Squadsees a team of lesser-known anti-heroes and villains infiltrate Corto Maltese, an island crawling with mysterious foes. While on the team, Peacemaker gets an impressive number of kills, but one sequence in particular yields the best inspiration for aMortal Kombat 1Fatality.
During a sequence that sees Peacemaker and Bloodsport compete to get the most kills, Peacemaker puts a triumphant end to the tournament by shooting a man behind him, over his shoulder with an explosive compression bullet, all while trash-talking Bloodsport. Still talking, Peacemaker keeps his back to his victim while he explodes into a gory cloud of viscera. The style and gore of this kill alone make it a perfect contender for a PeacemakerMortal Kombat 1Fatality.
Mortal Kombat 1: Peacemaker’s Sonic Boom Fatality
After appearing inThe Suicide Squad, Peacemaker makes his return inthePeacemakershow. Getting into some of the character’s weirder comic book elements,Peacemakersees the mercenary use an array of different helmets, most of which have a unique gimmick. One of these helmets is the Sonic Boom helmet, seen both at the start of the show and right at the end of it. In both instances, the Sonic Boom helmet obliterates the opponent in front of it, blowing apart each layer of skin, muscle, and bone in quick succession.
Mortal Kombat 1: Peacemaker’s X-Ray Fatality
ThePeacemakershow revolves around an alien species nicknamed Butterflies that are capable of taking over human brains and using them as a puppet. At one point in the show, Peacemaker uses an X-Ray helmet to see hiding Butterflies and proceeds to blast everyone into pieces with a shotgun. A funMortal Kombat 1Fatality would see Peacemaker using an X-Ray helmet to reveal that his opponent has been taken over with a Butterfly, before blowing their brains out or grabbing the Butterfly right out of it.
Mortal Kombat 1: Peacemaker’s Shield-Shot Fatality
The finale ofPeacemakerhas a number of great kills in it, but one of the most memorable is when Peacemaker throws his shield up in the air and shoots it, causing it to barrel towards someone and get lodged deep in their chest. It’s a more simple one, but this kill has real potential to be a Fatality inMortal Kombat 1, with it sharing some big similarities with some of Erron Black’s Fatalities in previous games.
Mortal Kombat 1releases on September 19 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
