InThe Rising Tide,Final Fantasy 16protagonist Clive Rosfieldreceives an unmarked letter, with a request for rescue from the Dominant of Leviathan. After some discussion at the hideaway, Clive and his allies accept the request and head to Mysidia to find the Eikon of Water. Players will soon uncover the history and secrets of Mysidia’s forgotten people while trying to avert another crisis. Clive will also gain new abilities from Leviathan, acquire new weapons such asFinal Fantasy 14’s Curtana sword, and help the people of Mysidia in new side quests.

The patch notes forFinal Fantasy 16update 1.31 reveal numerous adjustments, new features and additions, and bug fixes for the base game and its DLC, includingThe Rising Tide. Launching on April 18, update 1.31 will allow players to installFinal Fantasy 16: The Rising Tideand begin the DLC’s quest line after making sufficient progress in the base game. Various Orchestrion rolls will be added to regional shops with new songs that players may listen to. In addition, the new update increases player ATK outside certain Eikon battles inFinal Fantasy 16, and various quality-of-life improvements will be made to the UI in Eikon battles. Several adjustments have been made to Clive’s Eikonic abilities and move-set, including buffs to Gouge and Aerial Blast damage.

What’s more, update 1.31 improves the effectiveness of various accessories, such as Favor of Wind (Gouge), Breath of Earth (Earthen Fury), and Breath of Darkness (Gungnir). The exact changes to these accessories were not detailed by Square Enix yet, however.Quests inFinal Fantasy 16will be adjusted and receive a new “Quick Complete” feature, which lets players teleport back to the quest-giver after completing the final objective. According to the patch notes, new NPCs will be added to certain settlements, likely referring to the new areas that players can explore inThe Rising Tide.

A new custom controller setting will be added in update 1.31, giving players the ability to assign the functionality of each button on their controllers. New skill sets will be available with up to a total of five that may be created and used in combat. Players may switch between these skill sets by pressing L1 or R1 in the game. In addition, more functions will be available inFinal Fantasy 16’sPhoto Mode, including screen effects and tone correction.

Lastly, minor adjustments to system features will be applied alongside various bug fixes. These bug fixes improve game stability, resolve problems with certain NPCs and ally AI, and correct issues involving gameplay mechanics andFinal Fantasy 16’s general UI.
