Fortnitehas become an incredibly major title in gaming, with most of it stemming from the collaborations it has made between brands, IPs, and pop culture icons ever since its release. The game’s global success can be attributed to the characters that have been licensed out to appear in the free-to-play title. This includes heroes and villains from the iconic multimedia empire,Star Wars. Last year, the iconic bounty hunterBoba Fett was added toFortnite, just in time for the Holiday season. The nextStar Warscharacter to be added has a similar amount of iconography: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

For the uninitiated, Obi-Wan Kenobi was introduced in the firstStar Warstrilogy as a Jedi Master and supporting character. A younger version of the character would then be seen in the prequel trilogy, portrayed by Ewan McGregor. General Kenobi would become this trilogy’s deuteragonist alongside Anakin Skywalker. He’s been frequently featured as a main character in other media released, with an upcomingObi-Wan Kenobiminiseries on Disney+premiering soon.

Fortniteitself teased Obi-Wan’s inclusionearlier this month on May 4, appropriately enough. Obi-Wan himself is already a popular character, but it’s likely this skin serves a dual-purpose in promoting the aforementioned TV series. This is evident with Obi-Wan’s appearance in this game being based on his look from the show, which takes place after the events of the prequel trilogy.

The official tweet announcing his inclusion states that fans will get the chance to earn this set early in a special event known as the Obi-Wan Kenobi Cup on May 22. The tweet references a verymemetic piece ofStar Warsprequel dialogueinvolving Obi-Wan, but also links to a set of rules of the event which detail how fans can earn this cosmetic. According to the outlined ruleset from the competitiveFortniteteam, players must all be a part of a special set of matches that is taking place during the event, separated by certain leagues and divisions.

Players who participate in theseFortnitematches will earn a specific amount of points, with any Victory Royales achieved during a match giving the most. At the conclusion of the event, there will be a Leaderboard for each region that will place where each player ranked, which determines if the player earned both the character’s in-game cosmetic outfit and associated Back Bling. These cosmetics will also be available to players to purchase in the item shop on May 26, a day before the premiere of the show.

Fortniteis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
