WhenFortnitefirst came out, supply drops would drop on the island late into a match. This would create a high-risk high-reward situation in which players would go to a marked spot on the map in order to try to get their hands on some rare loot. However, since this would be tempting for others as well, it could potentially put them in danger.
Supply drops were eventually vaulted and replaced with Combat Caches. This guide will tell players everything they need to know about Combat Caches inFortnite, so that they can decide if they’re worth searching for or not.
How to Find Combat Caches
When the third Storm Circle is revealed, the timer will start at 1:30 minutes and a Combat Cache will appear on the player’s map. Even though more Combat Caches will spawn on the map, only one will be revealed for the player. On top of this, the same cache will be marked on another player’s map, so at least two players on the island will be competing for the same Combat Cache.
A Combat Cache marker will immediately appear on the screen once it spawns on the island. Players can ignore it or cancel the marker, but if they’d like to collect the cache’s loot, they’ll have to follow it and find it.
How to Retrieve a Combat Cache
If players follow the Combat Cache marker or the glowing blue beam, they’ll come across it. to retrieve the loot inside, gamers must press and hold theRecover Cachebutton. Players must then wait for the timer to stop, and the Combat Cache will then burst with loot.
Previously, Combat Caches would spawn with Legendary rarity loot inside, which would gradually go down, depending on how long it took players to reach it. However, now they only contain Rare rarity loot, so they will always glow blue.
The Combat Cache will contain multiple Rare weapons inside, as well as healing items and throwables. Even though they were significantly nerfed, opening it can still be worth the risk in certain situations.
