COVID-19 has spread worldwide, making whole communities ill and taking lives. The latest gaming event to be canceled is theFortniteWorld Cup. WhileFortniteis mostly played online, Epic has decided to cancel the international event because of the limitations of cross-region play. There is a massive problem onFortnitewhen trying to play with other regions that can ruin a real-time, online game, like lag and connection issues. Therefore, Epic canceled its massive worldwide event since it could not be held in a single location.

Although players won’t get to see or participate in world events,Fortnitewill still most likely to continue hosting regional online tournaments, live concerts like the Travis Scott concert, and other events that quarantined players can connect to from home. It’s really a shame that the live World Cup event won’t be happening, but with the CORVID pandemic, it’s best that players stay home and stay safe.

Lucky forFortnitelovers, it looks like all thefuture tournaments will be online, and players will be able to watch all the action from home. So there will be some tournaments in the future for players to watch, even if the World Cup isn’t one of them. Hopefully the world will able to go back to normal before the World Cup for 2021.

Until then,Fortniteplayers will have to tune in from their couches. And in the meantime, they should have a number of in-game events to look forward to in the near future, including the long-awaited launch of Chapter 2 Season 3.

Fortniteis available for mobile, PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One.
