Genshin Impacthas been a breakout success for Chinese developer miHoYo since its release in September of 2020 not only for the breadth of its open-world RPG gameplay but for its large and growing cast of iconic characters. The massive RPG boasts a roster of 44 unique playable characters and has already announcedtwo new characters, Shenhe and Yun Jin, coming with the game’s upcoming 2.4 update. Now, alongside the newest characters from the China-based Liyue region, MiHoYo has announced new cosmetic options for two of Liyue’s most popular characters.
Skins have been a far less frequent addition toGenshin Impactthan the 2-3 new characters that typically join the game with each new update. While many fans of the game have been requesting skins forGenshin Impact’s sizable cast, the developers have so far only released a pair of skins for Mondstadt’s Barbara and Jean despite fan demand for more cosmetics to bring a new style for their favorite characters. However, the trailer forGenshin Impact’s 2.4 update officially announced thatGenshinveterans Keqing and Ningguang would be the first Liyue characters to receive their own skins.

Alongside a plethora of announcements including the 2022 edition of Liyue’s annual ‘Lantern Rite’ festival,Genshin Impact’s 2.4 update trailer officially revealed newformal-looking skins coming for Ningguangand Keqing. Titled ‘Orchid’s Evening Gown’ and ‘Opulent Splendor’ respectively, the newly-announced outfits swap Ningguang and Keqing’s usual outfits for a pair of stunning dresses with Ningguang in a flowing blue gown and Keqing’s a mix of black, blue, and her signature purple. No pricing was detailed for the new skins, however if they are priced similarly to previous skins, fans should expect to pay around $30 USD.
The upcoming skins for Ningguang and Keqing will be the first skinsGenshin Impacthad added since the’Midsummer Island Adventure' update in Mayadded beach-themed outfits for Barbara and Jean. While the game has continued to add to its roster of characters and the in-game world ofGenshin Impacthas grown significantly with Inazuma introduced in July, character cosmetics have taken a backseat to the expansion of the playable world of Teyvat over the second half of 2021.
Ningguang and Keqing’s radiant skins were just one of a slew of announcements made by miHoYo during the special program forGenshin Impact’s newest update. The2.4 update, dubbed ‘Fleeting Colors in Flight’, will not only feature the previously mentioned Lantern Rite events but will also add the region of Enkanomiya to Inazuma, along with a new boss for players to challenge.Genshin Impact’s 2.4 update looks to provide players with plenty of new reasons to dive into the world of Teyvat, along with new cosmetic options to help their party dress for the occasion.
