Reddit user my_ana recently shared a short video of themself playing as theAnemo Catalyst character Sucrosethat depicted them using magic on a nearby cat. In the clip, Sucrose uses what appears to be her Astable Anemohypostasis Creation - 6308 skill to apply a debuff to the animal. The skill doesn’t appear to do any damage, but the cat is briefly tossed into the air by the AOE effects. However, the animal quickly lands on its feet and doesn’t appear to be overly upset by the rough treatment.

According to my_ana, this debuff increases the cat’s vulnerability to the Hydro element, which fans may find fitting given that cats are notorious for disliking water. Other users noted that it’s possible to drown a pet inGenshin Impact, but the animal may or may not respawn. Multiple responses declared that doing so would be utterly unforgivable, however, leading my_ana to assure them that no cats were drowned during the experimental process. My_ana did admit to “bullying” the cat into place by abusingSucrose’s charged attack and skill, though.

As of writing, it appears that other fans have mixed opinions about this feline revelation. Several users spoke up in defense of the cats, which one going so far as to declare thatNeko will remember what the player did. A second user stated that Yoimiya’s charged shot fireworks automatically target cats and dogs, implying that the game views pets as threats. A third user complained that miHoYo hates animals, as players can scare and debuff them but can’t pet them. A number of users commented on how fitting it was for the cat-like character Sucrose to be involved in this discovery. My_ana’s party also included Diona, another character with a distinctly feline design aesthetic.

Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
