Ghost of Tsushima’s Kensei Armor is arguably the best armor set in the game, increasing Jin’s Resolve gains, boosting the damage dealt by hisGhost Weapons, and more. That said, the Kensei Armor inGhost of Tsushimadoes not come extremely easily, and indeed players that wish to obtain it will need to tackle a fairly extensive Mythic Tale.
Updated July 06, 2025, by Hamza Haq:Unlocking new armor sets is the main way for players to increase their build variety in Ghost of Tsushima because each armor in the game offers unique buffs and abilities that complete builds. Archery builds, for example, benefit a lot from the Tadayori armor set; perfect parry builds require the Sarugami Armor, and so on. The Kensei Armor is best for Ghost builds that rely on Resolve to deal damage, ensuring Jin always has enough Resolve to throw out a panic set of Kunai when the Mongols start swarming him because of the armor’s ‘increased resolve gain’ attribute.
The Six Blades of Kojiro Mythic Tale Walkthrough
The Six Blades of Kojiro Mythic Tale can be started as soon as players unlock the second area of the map, Toyotama, after completing the main quest,‘A New Horizon,‘where they attack Castle Shimura and free it from Mongol control.
In Kamiagata, they’ll need to findYamato, the storyteller, in Umugi Cove, a rest spot in thesouthwest region of Toyotama. This area can be accessed by heading west after passing through Castle Shimura.
If Yamato does not appear in Umugi Cove players should complete side quests for the distressed woman in Umugi Cove until he appears.
Yamato will reveal that Kojiro, a legendary former Straw Hat, has issued a challenge to ‘the Ghost’ and will duel him after he defeats five of his lieutenants. Here areall duel locations in this Mythic Tale.
The duels with the five lieutenants serve as a practice for the one against Kojiro. Each of the Straw Hats uses one or two types of unique attacks, whereas Kojiro utilizes a combination of all of them. For players who meticulously learn the attack pattern of these enemies and how to counter them, defeating Kojiro should be fairly straightforward.
To succeed in duels, players should ensure that they’re using charms and armor that increase melee damage, health, or stagger buildup. Unrelated buffs like Ghost Weapon damage and increased arrow damage will not have any effect in duels.Use Loadoutsto quickly swap builds.
How to Get Kensei Armor
After a fan is victorious in all five of these duels they should then return to Umugi Cove and speak with Yamato, who will now sendJin Sakainorth to theOmi Monastery. In this location fans will find a large statue, and they should head down the path to the right when facing its front. Following this path will eventually lead the player to a cave and the final fight for the Kensei Armor.
To note, while the Kensei Armor is the real prize for completing The Six Blades of Kojiro Mythic Tale, fans that tackle this quest will also receive theKensei Headbandand theCharm of Unseen Respite, which causes Smoke Bombs to restore 25% of a player’s health. Certainly thisGhost of TsushimaCharmcan be strong in some situations, but it does not quite match the power level of the Kensei Armor.
