A rare animation glitch is showcased by aCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2player, who discovered it after their Gunship perk ended just as it was taken out by a rocket. Strange behaviors, bugs, and glitches aren’t too far out of the ordinary for Infinity Ward’s latest, as many players have come across some odd moments since the game launched. In fact, just recently, one player showed off aflying AI enemy during a match of Invasion inside of the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.
Thankfully, many of these incidents are fairly innocent and not game breaking, though withModern Warfare 2Season 1 only a few days away, many are hoping these weird issues can be ironed out. However, there have been reports of bigger issues with the game which have interrupted people’s matches. Outside of the game crashing problems with the campaign, multiplayer fans have seen problems with the riot shield making players invincible. Now, one player has discovered a strange glitch with the Gunship perk, provided conditions are just right.

In a new clip posted to theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2subreddit, a user named MrOneXTwo gets seemingly transported to a place the community has lovingly termed “The Upside Down” in reference toStranger Things. Things in the clip start off normally, with the player using a Gunship perk to attack the enemy team. Switching between the various guns, the player is doing fairly well, though taking a few shots here and there. As the perk comes to an end, the player is sent back to their body down on the ground, however, the screams of AI soldiers and the sounds of the Gunship being taken down prove that something isn’t right.
Instead of resuming where they left off, the player instead hears warning sirens and enters a map shrouded in red fog. The screen then goes static, and they’re immediately shot by an enemy player. While very jarring, this is apparently a very rare glitch that can happen if the Gunship perk ends and gets shot down at the same time. Commenters in the thread say that when this happens, the player is thrown into a glitched death animation that combines the player’s view as well as what the inside of the Gunship looks like with the red lights and the warning beeps. The static screen is what players would see if theGunship is taken down while still inside.
While fans should likely expect to see some odd glitches and bugs during the initial launch ofCall of Duty Warzone 2this coming week, fans are hoping the problems won’t be exacerbated by cheating. Thankfully, Activision’s Ricochet tool is currently running, something the originalWarzonelacked for over a year, and has already begun the process of weeding out those players. Even in the first two weeks, players have foundcheaters taking advantage ofModern Warfare 2multiplayerto gain an advantage.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
